looks like i'll just be doing a day trip again then!

but if you think thats expensive..... work out the sums on this one....

plymouth volksfest (only been going for 3 years or so)

adult weekend ticket incl a booking fee £48
13-16 yr olds weekend ticket incl booking fee £32
6-12 yr old weekend ticket incl booking fee £5.50
under 5's get in free, but there is still a booking fee!!!! 50p
vw camping pitch incl booking fee £2.50

so if me and lara wanted to go and hyperthetically we had a 14 yr old and an 11yr old it would cost us....

.....er....hang on....

.....£136!!!!!!!!!

and thats before you even consider beer food and fuel
f#ck right off!!!!!

Sh*t Jon, ive been to that for the last 2 years and it cost me £25 each for me and Kaz and a lady for Meg. Are you sure thats not the gate price as early doors tickets are usually alot cheaper. I must admit i havent looked for this year as im away that weekend and also its slowly getting a bad rep within the real VW scene as abit of a chav fest. They said they would resolve this and as far as i can see and have heard they havent so thats another show i wont be going to. Wont make that Exeter Show either as im working that weekend as well. Most probley try some new shows this year. Camperjam last year was ace by the way and they have the room and potential to take on Vanfest and win hands down. Lets hope they keep it real and run the greedy VF people out of town. (let me get this right for VF, thats £35 each plus £20 for the pitch and more for the entertainment.................)

People will walk away, can see a lot of the smaller shows becoming more popular this year.
Entertainment is for holiday camps and caribean cruises not VW shows where people make there own entertainment

Yeah, I agree with most folk, it's too dear, for instance, a day ticket, £15 !!! up 50% on last year!!! Yeh, were all being paid 50% more wages...right!! theres a recesion goin on,petrol prices through the roof, and when you get there most stands contain cushions, curtains, fruit, sweets, etc........what about the bloody bus stuff!! Yeah I know theres the usual vw traders there, but last year the auto jumble was the smallest at vf in years, and we all enjoy a mooch.....finding that elusive, real German part, we all need, knowing its built properly...and fits properly!!! its part of owning a bus!
Well I only live round the corner (Worcester) and I didnt go, my brother didnt go,and two more bus owning mates didnt go either, all for reasons mentioned above,we also didnt go to bvf, same reasons.
Did go to Bustypes, Dubs at castle, Stanford Hall,Stoner, and a couple more, all good shows and resonable, but no more bvf or vf. I'm not tight, skint or mean, its just the bloody principle.......there....Ive had my moan, sos if it was boring and upset some ,but hey....I FKN LOVE MY VW'S ....just like all you guys.... :D

As the event has been and gone and the cost of going, or not, is now a bit irrelevant, Im locking this thread.

Comments regarding experiences, constructive critisism, opinions on value for money will be welcome in another thread, should anyone wish to start it. There is a picture thread now started in the Gallery section.
