What video?

There was a video they were showing next to the van. Think its on Youtube '54 split on fire' or something like that. Was a battery fire 2 weeks before the show

That sounds rare and valuable to me! ;)

I thought it was just late bay trim to be honest. I picked up some early in-front-of-mirror sections at Volksworld (at vast expense I might add  ) which I have yet to fit. As far as I can tell that's the only difference between the trims.

thats crazy, looks like they had an extinguisher inside and it didnt help

It was a battery fire, certainly in my bus I doubt my firetec would have any impact on a battery fire. It goes to show theres only so much you can do :?

That is one and the same,

Darren was driving it 400 miles into the bedding in of their new 2276cc and he heard a bang, switched it off and coasted into a lay by thinking he'd done the engine in, not expecting to see flames licking out the back of it, they emptied 2 small extinguisher at it which did NOTHING, luckily as he was coasting into the lay by a fire engine was coming the other way and spotted him, hence why they were on the scene so fast!

It went up in flames one saturday and by the following saturday they were out driving it again.

It was a major task, the engine was stripped back and the case opened as it was full of water everything was cleaned, (I spent a day jet washing engine parts and another day with my head in the engine bay) It was a proper team effort to get it all back on the road in time for Vowo, Mark and Matt @ Autotechniks did a mad week of late nights working on the van. It had a new wiring loom fitted, gearbox mounts and all kinds of other hard to come by bits.

There are loads of photo's and the links to the video's on the New Waves club facebook page:

but my personal fav as it's the place i spent hours cleaning is:

and I was fortunate enough to be asked eventually to show my van, it was awesome to meet Stuart RX7 and chat about our VERY USED campers and how many people would end up confusing us as show ponies.

All kinds of different things, can be due to vibration, a shit old battery, overcharging, cells dying in the battery and gasses building up, Google will probably have better answers than that though!

I stand corrected. i think there are two types the rounded and slash ends. i presume the slash end are early and the rounded are late then??

Anyone got anymore info on the Westy with the teledials on? (First batch of pics) I think its the one I fell in love with at Tatton Park last year.

No, no - you might well be right. It's hard to tell when so much deluxe trim is retro-fitted to buses which weren't originally deluxe (mine included)!

That's what I thought, but only because I've never seen any other rounded ends on an early bay.

Good work by you and Stuart! We did comment on your van being in there looking so bling after you'd caned it to SCC and back and given it plenty while you were there.

Someone looked in my van and made a comment like 'It'd be no good for me, Ive a child to take away with me' ... I didnt bother saying anything, but remembered my daughter barfing everywhere inside it in the middle of France last summer!

Vans are for using!!!! It's my holiday tool, as with almost everyone i know that has a van, I couldn't have a show car that i was afraid to use it'd be a waste of time and money in my eyes!

(I did cheat and get help making it bling for the show, between me and a few mates we probably put about 14 man hours into cleaning my van but they were all on the thursday and friday of the show weekend, it hadn't been cleaned since ACTION 09 though)
