Unfortunately my roof guttering has contracted eternal cancer and is well beyond the 6 inch repair pieces available, so... I am after a complete roof section, preferably solid "tin top" whether it be by luck a old stock new panel that’s been hiding in your shed, or just one I could cut from a worse off van:cry: painful as that would be...
Preferably around the bath area but do have means to transport if necessary.
Cheers

Hi, we have complete tintop roof, £320 cut through window pillars so roof is unharmed still has tailgate hinges if this helps at all.

Located in Sussex collection only.

For what it's worth, a complete tintop roof will fit on the top of an estate car :)

Mine is sadly (well, not for me as it is my daily driver) attached to my van, and not for sale. Good luck finding one and fitting it :)

classic!! is there anything a passat cant do??

Did you do the job yourself by any chance??

I did do it myself. :)

My roof structure was so rotten, that I had to replace it at the pillars - and thus needed a RHD roof.

There are some pictures here:

Let me know if I can help :)

Well... cheers for that, from yours i can safely say that throws a spanner in the works already coz my roof structure is just as nonexistent as the remaining guttering!! So presumably that narrows the search to a r.h.d roof and it has to be from an early donor bus??
Were you lucky enough to remove the roof yourself? i love the idea of joining the rear corners under the vents!! That’s the bit i was most confused as to where to start.

Indeed, it really does limit you to a RHD donor roof. I got hold of a LHD donor roof and tried repairing the internal structure, but those pictures just are not worth posting ;) - it was not a pretty sight. If you are doing it below the vents, you'll certainly need an early donor bus unless you want the larger rear side vents. With a LHD donor roof you'd need to keep the inner structure above the sliding door and the window opposite it - all the rest could be replaced with the donor roof still.

Yes, I removed the roof from the donor bus myself. Drove 200 miles to essex, armed with a 9 inch angle grinder, cut the roof off the bus (with the owners permission ;) ) and handed over a few quid and then drove 200 miles back :).

By cutting it below the window apertures, it also gives you spare metal if your window frames are slightly rotten along the bottoms.

I've not got round to filling or smoothing the rear corners under the vents yet, so I can't say how well that bit has worked. But it was decided that would be the place least likely to show the tampering ;) - also, the pillars are all joined at different heights so in theory it'll have more strength than having been done all at the same height (but I doubt it'll make much difference).

Hope that helps, let me know if you've any further questions, and good luck with it :)

It is now my daily driver and drives absolutely fine - no creaks or rattles.
