i had 4 brand new carbs from gsf (the more expensive ones) and there all rubbish, i have been offered a webber carb that came off my 66, 1600tp Its a dual/twin progressive carb to go on my 1600 tp, anyone had experince of these carbs etc, is it worth getting an older one as the new copy's are no good.

help and info needed, cheers

My mate got me to set-up a progressive Weber 32/36 on a mini. The end result was good but getting there was an arsehole Be warned. You say it's a genuine italian weber, some say the spainish copies are not as good and some say otherwise. Personally i'd have genuine Webers but each to their own. If it's second hand give it a good look over and clean amd if need be a overhaul, seals and gaskets etc. Thats what i did with my 40 idf's

got one on my single port stocker 009 dizzy pulls like a train uphill :!: sod to adjust idle and mixture screws face fan housing :!:

i will only have it if its a proper webber, is it easy enough to overhaul it myself or better getting someone who know's what there doing :?

As long as you make note of where everything goes and keep it all uber clean you should be able to do it. Speak to Eurocarb for the bits and bob's. Just remember to keep everything CLEAN lol, thats critical.

Thats over priced for a weber progressive. I bought mine last year for £100 including the manifold, think theres a couple of both Ebay and VZi for alot cheaper than this.
If i was you i would get a fully re-furbed solex 34 pict 3, i know you have had a few from GSF but think these are most likely to be brosal or bocar and not a scratch on an og solex, and then wait until you can buy a set of twins.

Hopefully sorting some twins out for mine over the winter and to be honest if weber progressives are going for this price then watch out for mine to be on sale

I picked my weber progressive up for about £90 a year or two ago off ebay. There is a guide somewhere which is very useful.I followed it and my jet sizes are ok.

The main problem areas are making sure you get the original manifold ends sealed down first before you tighten any of the carb manifold fully down.I also had to shave a bit off my carb manifold to clear the fuel pump,it's a scat manifold. Also as 67panel says it's a pain to get to the mixture screw.Lastly I found that when connected I couldn't get the second throttle butterfly to move on full throttle,I believe this is a common problem so you will need to modify/fix the pedal end linkage to get full throttle.
Once I got it all done,I've found it to be easy to start and seems reliable enough and an improvement on performance compared to stock I haven't bothered doing fuel economy checks yet. I haven't done big mileage yet for a full reliabilty check.
