Westfalia water butt

Hi , just wondered if anyone could shed some light on there westy water butts ???

I understand you have the pipe to fill from the top and the pipe for the tap but the third outlet (I'm guessing to drain the tank ) what's on the end to stop it leaking ???

On mine there's about 6" of pipe with little thumb turn valve on the end for draining it out
