Im off camping this weekend..................First time out this year, but hey, better late than never :!:

Just put the awning up in the garden and got the hose on it to test for water repelency and it seems pretty damn good............drying out now for a couple of days.

So thinking Ill take the Westy Awning for ease of erection  seriously tho, im not sure how it fixes to the van, and dont wanna be the campsite entertainment trying

The rubber part fixes to the gutter im guessing................also looks as tho there are some hooks that connect to the van sill and wheels arches maybe? Any tips welcome,

Just

Hi

Yes the rubber strip goes onto the gutter rail, which can be a pain at first, and there are three (?) hooks along the sill edge - one hooks onto somewhere suitable at the back end of the rear wheel arch, one clips into the drain hole in the central jacking point and the foremost one hooks onto the front wheel arch - its all obvious when you set it up with the van.

Also, the frame tilts (slightly) in one direction, so make sure it leans into the van and be sure to get the inner 'door' of the awning correctly aligned with the sliding door. :)

Westy awnings are the best, by far

Sorry, there are 3 cloth tags sewn into the edge of the grounsheet, each with a metal hook on .... this hook 'hooks' onto the parts in question.

Yours may not be exactly the same as mine though? I had a rhd one previously that had a flap that clipped onto the exhaust tailpipe!

Sorry it did make sense the 2nd time I read it! I did notice the metal hooks on mine also a rubber band towards the back, not sure where that might go.....

I use the rubber banded bits to go onto pegs into the ground, they add taughtness(?) to the sides of the van connection area ...... if that makes sense?

Thanks Mike

The rubber part kinda turns down with the shape of the awning at its extreme ends (if you get me) but i assume you just pull it straight and attach to the van. Im sure it will obvious to me at the time.
