The roof hinges on my 70 have both had the tubes welded around the bolt hole in the centre and one also has a lot of play around the bolt. does anyone make replacement tubes or is it a visit to a local engineering shop to get some made up? Should i change to the flat bar style?

Any advice much appreciated. ;)

Jon

Hi Jon

I just got a piece of solid round to match ID of tubes. Cut tubes back a little and plug welded the solid in to the tube. Drilled hole for the bolt and job done. Nice and strong

Cheers and good tip! I have wondered about the 73 only flat bar set up and if that was better? I guess the tube is always going to fail around that bolt hole so perhaps that was the answer before they changed it on the late bays?
