Looking to head towards Italy at end of July with family and a bucket load of gear. I have a 1600 VEGE engine in my 1970 Dormobile and wonder how far I could travel in a single day? As air is the key component to keeping the engine cool how far could I drive before having to give the engine a rest to cool down? I drove to Normandy in France a few weeks ago which was 220miles door to door with the only stop being the ferry. I felt the van could easily keep on going... as long as I kept feeding her fuel! Any ideas? Cheers, KB

i'm sure your own physical fatigue of driving distances will introduce sufficient stops for the engine to be happy. especially if you've got little kids etc.

might be worth fitting a reliable/accurate engine/oil temp indicator/guage. could give you a piece of mind whilst driving along?

Drove from Wales to Hungary last year in two days (~1300 miles), 3 kids & 2 adults in the bus, roofracks loaded up, didnt top 60 all the way there.
Just stopped when we needed for the loo/rest/food/fuel etc.
As long as you are happy your engine is in good order, just drive & enjoy the scenery.

Your engine will run all day if it's in good order - like the guys have said, your own tiredness will be a bigger factor!!!

Give it a service and tune-up before you go and enjoy the trip!!
