Whilst fiddling around the front underside of Beeglebus the other day (as you do....)

we came across this little tin 'stuck' to the chassis rail......this is the 'top' side:

and this the underside, with a magnet on it.....:

so we slid the top off, which was a bit tight, and this is what we found.....any ideas yet?

it looked like one of those small cardboard match cards. when we opened it up this is what we found inside, 2 keys!

how cool is that? 2 spare keys for the bus that have probably been attached to the chassis rail for twenty years or more! The match case looks to be from a chain of Mexican Taxco restaurants along the West coast of California......

I love these old buses....... :D :D

thats a cool bit of bus history! i remember seeing the "spare key" boxes for sale years back but guess their isnt much demand for them on todays plastic cars.

its amazing how they dont fall off bouncing around on a bay

These have been around for ever, obviously. maybe if you contact the manufacturer (if they are still in business) you might get some sort of sponsorship. The magnet is a little ripper.

I remember those boxes being around in the early 90s, and bizarrely enough I recognised what it was from the second picture but the fact that it has the keys still in there and even the business card is a great piece of history for the bus. :)

Stuff like that is ace 8) Cool....

My Variant had the same in the rear bumper .... two OG keys.
Ive kept all the 'stuff' from my camper - matches, firecrackers, tapes, badges etc etc ... worthless dirty rubbish but it all means something.

loads of surfers still use them ive one i use my self normally when i go for a surf i stick it under the van 8)
