Did you have to get the wiring connectors as well ?

Which connections? The kit comes with side light bulb holders so you just need to wire up with a few spades etc.

Hope that makes sense,

Cheers, thought you might have to get a multi plug or something for the back of the bulb.

Bobster

those look a bargain, can i fit direct into my cross over? i allready have sidelights in the headlights and can the connectors fit direct into the new lamps?

You have to be careful as US lights are completely different to UK RHD ones, the simplest solution is to fit Late Bay /Golf MkII headlights as they come with the correct mounting framework etc, I've bought other lights in the past and the time its taken to modify them to fit outweighs the fact they might be cheaper in the first place, the biggest issue is that because the US lights didnt have sidelights in them you usually have to cut away part of the mounting framework to allow access for the sidelamp holder.

The multi plug for the headlamp is already there on your bus Bob

I'm still working at the back end of my bus  trying to think ahead so I haven't looked up the front yet.

I bought these for mine:

I believe they are just beetle headlights though.

Thats an Expensive way to buy them, you get new rims but US buses normally only have the single screw on them through the rim.

Good point there as I did have to mod the mounting ring slightly to accommodate the bulb holders.

Thanks chaps, not sure which one I'll go for but I recon I prefer domed to flat :!: least I understand more now.

Thanks Graham and Bobster

But mine is a rhd so already has sidelights in headlight will the ones Bobster bought be ok ?

Hi, I was just reading this thread with interest...
I went to see Gadget at the weekend and he said I should get Mk1 Golf lights into our '71 Bay, but Mk1 lights are sealed units...
My Bay is a US spec (so side lights are in the indicators) and still has LHD glass, but the headlights the kind the 3 screws in the chrome ring so they're not a sealed beam unit. To fit the Golf units, do I need to buy a whole new headlight rim, retainer assembly, etc or will they fit into the current assembly??

Will they be noticeably better than the current lights fitted with RHD lenses and better bulbs which is a cheaper option!
