it might be as the engine did come out of a us bus

any idea if its worth leaving it on there or not ?

My guess is not, just makes it more complicated, but I would wait til one of the US import guys on here replies with a more definitive answer. ;)
 
It is part of the altitude corrector fitted to some US imports ditch it as its unlikely to be of any use in the UK and I doubt it came with the other half.

Not seen it there before. Mine was mounted on the lhs of the engine bay, near the engine lid.
 
That bit in the corner is remotely coupled to the carb element which I'm guessing you didnt have fitted ;)

earlier versions were a one piece affair mounted to the carb
