Hi,

Looking to buy a torque wrench to enable me to do use on all different aspects of maintenance of the van. Is there a "one size fits all" type or do most people have a few different sizes depending on the job they are doing?

I just got a sealey one from Amazon that covers 7-112nm so should cover most jobs apart from the big ones.

Saying that I'm sending it back as I don't need it for the job I bought it for now :)

I've got 1/2" drive and 3/8" drive Halfords advanced ones. Had to get the smaller drive for engine rebuild as the large drive started at 50nm or something

Thanks I am going to wait for Halfords to have a sale and see if their professional one becomes cheaper. Want one for removing the wheels mainly but will probably end up needing it for some other jobs.

...not sure if a torque wrench is the right tool for wheel removal - I had a 1/2 inch solid breaker bar - and it broke removing wheel nut.

Bought a 3/4 inch breaker bar and with a bit of jumping up and down on it the nuts came undone...

Yikes, I thought it was the only way to check the wheels where on safely. Maybe the breaker bar is the way to go then?

Breaker bar or any wrench to undo and remove, torque wrench to do up when refitting. Can just do up tight but I prefer the piece of mind from properly torqued up wheel nuts/bolts.

Tbh, I just had a cheap Argos one for wheels as I didn't feel the need to be as precise.

Many thanks, makes sense. The tool kit seems to be expanding St a rate of notes at the moment! Axle stands, jack, air compressor.....I could go on but the wife might be reading this ;-)
