Hi guys

Have been racking my brain over a colour for my bus .. I'd rather choose something i like rather than stay original, but still want it to look 'period' too ..

Seen this colour on a T5 and like it ..

Whats everyone think?

Its still a VW colour and i like it ..

Anyone know how to find the paint code for it?

Cheers

Different!!!

Could look 8) on a bay!!

Ring your local VW van dealer's parts dept with the reg no, they should be able to tell you the code & the name of this colour.

Yeah! .. I didn't think of that .. its bin a long day! ;)

.. think its rave blue LR5D from looking on the net but i need to see something else in that code to confirm ..

Cheers!

Don't you think it looks a bit like primer? Just my opinion of course but if it were me and you like that sort of colour head towards a duck egg blue or pastel blue?
Your bus though, your choice!

or fiat 'cha cha cha azure'

i pissed myself when my mother told me thats what her 500 was.

I actually think it would look nice. Especially with White steel wheels & chrome hubcaps.

Some times you just have to go for it!!!!

This looked friggin hideous on the colour chip & in the tin, but fantastic on the car!!

I don't mind the colour. As long as it's not a metallic I think it will look good.

The colour in question I believe is stone 174. See this thread http://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=8c5cedc570c850ca5e4580525c927736&t=120517&page=2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Dude, that was the other colour i liked .. but i couldn't tell everyone my bus was painted cha cha cha azure! ... or a fiat colour!

:D

Yeah I recon it would look ok on a bus. It's not a million miles from brilliant blue, an og bus colour, and wouldn't look out of place IMHO

I think it will look good on an old bus, better than the one in the picture. What colour is the interior?

Honestly I'm not a massive fan based on that picture. Not sure it will work on a bay... but I do love to be proved wrong!

All over, gutters or swage line?
I think my concern is what the complimentary colour will be on bumpers and what not :?

A bunch of early VW blues: http://www.pre67vw.com/colours/default.aspx?cg=3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Meh.

Strato blue?

Too pale I think, its a long way from Brilliant or Neptune Blue and personally think it will look wrong on an early, to make it look right you need a 70's colour and I'm sorry but that isn't one, might look OK on a late

Sorry but you did ask for opinions, just think if you ever park next to a T5 in that colour it will be a give away its a modern colour, go retro

Looks good, would look awesome with black alloys and black ancilleries. That said, would you not lose money on resale value? some people can be a bit funny about the right colour, bolts, valve caps etc :msn4: :D

Thanks for the replies guys!

... Appreciate all your comments and i think they are all valid ..

does look a bit dull and 'primerish' .. ( saying that ar lass looked at some primer i put on the other day and said ' ooo i quite like that colour! )

.. and it doesn't look very 'period correct'..

But heres the thing, as much as I love all the neptunes and brilliant blues, i don't really want one the same, just similar!

Bus is not all that original tbh and thats not my aim, the interior is dark and mid blue vinyl, hence why i wanted to keep the exterior lighter ..

Was gonna put it up to the gutters and white roof as i have a devon poptop ..

I dont wanna go 'too blue though cos i think it would be too much ..

My other thought was one of the whites all over to contrast with the blue interior and maybe some decals on the outside a la the American conversion ...

Does anyone else have this problem choosing a bloody colour! ... i thought it would be easy!
