ok, so finished off some stuff and thought i would post it up  :msn4: 8)  :p

some of you will say cutting a westy wardrobe is a big no BUT i want to camp in it and what i have done
has made it as homely as I want it to be whilst being able to entertain the kids in a disco type fashion
lights on flash and stereo pumpin makes me feel like I should be in austin powers next movie ......

all the 12volt sockets work off the LB and i think they look quite 70's :msn4: the old 12v original socket in the buddy works too :) a vintage ciggy lighter in the front looks like could have been original and works luverly aswell.....

Love it 8) - looks well integrated to me, not like it stands out as something that shouldn't be in place, particularly like your TV as trying to work out how to get a pop-up mount for mine in the buddy seat and it's not going well :( - take it yours you just put in and take out rather than leave in all the time?

cheers matey,

yeah, i toyed with the idea of pop up out of the opening and even found a TV that fitted in the gap BUT when i finally sat down and thought how I would use it (and the wifes reasoning) There was a couple of deciding factors for me.

Firstly, not goin the pop up and down route gave me a slightly bigger 19 inch tv and DVD combo that just seems to look the right size.
Secondly, you can in seconds move the TV outside of the van OR even take indoors at home in a jiffy.
The way I have mounted allows me to rotate the tv left and right 360 degrees Or lock in one position if a dvds
being watched whilst driving, not me of course
It doesnt take up all the storage of the magazine holder so that can sill be used
Takes 5 seconds to dismantle and hide away OR leave behind if ya dont want it.
Power is via a regulator mounted in a 12v socked hidden away underneath, again plug it in and off ya go.
The bracket doesnt screw into the original furniture so back to stock if ya want no probs
acts as a good headrest

need i say anymore  :msn4:

lastly, I have no firends that would say "god thats cool the way that TV comes up and down" doh actually i have no friends so thats a silly statement

a friendless potts

Very nice, 8) can't help but think your roof reminds me of the dance floor in Studio 54(Saturday Night Fever) in a upside down sort of way. ;)

Sorry not my cup of tea, hacking up a original westy wardrobe is a big crime

I know I know, it was a big decision to do this BUT in the grand scheme of things it was a decision based on the way I live and the way I want to use the bus.

I am not trying to run a show bus, OR trying to restore it to original, I just wanna camp with family, have days out with friends and having tunes from the rear is part of the fun, it also sounds luverly, add to this the 12v sockets and propex control, I don't actually believe any future buyer (albeit I won't sell it) would not want them after they tried it.

I have tried my hardest to be sympathetic to the original interior by finding as plain a speakers as I could and sockets that look like they fit in, even the double din stereo was a thought out purchase that was suppose to have a more retro look than the typical size single din units.

I even cut the holes in one piece so if I ever did want to which I won't, I could replace the cut out parts reasonably well  ish. And they are the only parts that would need doing, all other mods, lights, tv, have had zero impact and are removable in seconds.

At the very end of the day, me personally would rather get the enjoyment out of the tunes etc etc than stair at a piece of wood, no matter how nice it is was or sould be.
The other reason I've treated waffle this way is IF I did what I've done in the past and tried to have the best most perfect thing I can, I have always ended up becoming mega anal about it, ie kids don't do that, I can't park here, it's raining so not getting it out.....

I love this bus and all the pleasure it's given me in doing stuff to it, and surely that's what these are all about ??

But lastly don't get me wrong, this is just my opinion and the show buses, mega original restored ones bring me a lot of pleasure just from looking at them s it seems buses are all things to all people......

A puffed out, finished lecturing Potts

I don't think anyone needs justification for cutting holes in their bus - its up to them. But as it happens youve really thought about it
Boring if they were all the same anyway :msn4:
