I've looked at Eurocar parts. They have a Lucas for £113 or a Startline for £65. Any suggestions? MAny thanks

PS I've got a 72 crossover ex German Fire Service panel van. Only 27000km on the clock, Its the solenoid thats gone not the actual starter. Can I replace just the solenoid?

I had issues buying a new starter motor a while back. First one didn’t work so took it back, had to wait for another to be delivered so I was given one from the exchanges box. It was fitted just in case, worked and is still on the van!

I use a Skoda starter, from a TDI model. Powerfull and self supporting . It just need a little mod to mount on a 3 rib box. And i also use a hard start relay, to ensure full power to the starter.

had a genuine VW one that had been refurbished fitted on Saturday after mine failed. i know a man who will sell you one if you need.
