I am getting a 1776 engine from the VW Engine Company for my 1968 van.

What are the best upgrades to add to this engine:
Twin Carb kit upgrade?
Exhaust (preferably stainless steel)?
Coil?
Distributor?
etc

Sorry if this has been asked before but I am confused between all the differen t options available.

36 DRLA's if you can find them...

OR Weber 40's which are easy to get hold of:

Eurocarb usually have Dellorto 36's in

Thanks - the Dellorto 36's sound great - will read up further but definately on the list.

I literally just spotted these on ebay!

Great spot. Just trying to weigh up cost of buying these DRLA's, then buying the kit against buying full kit including recondition carbs.

Those eBay carbs would need new chokes and jets to your engine spec, at least £100 + worth new, bear that in mind if you get 2nd hand Alfa carbs. By the time you get linkage, manifolds and filters too you'll prob wish you just bought new set jetted to suit.
I speak from past experience

After doing the sums came to the same conclusion as Dave.P. Will go for reconditioned kit.
