Hi all.

Still new to this (but loving working on it so far!!!) and have lots to learn and based on my limited knowledge i think it would be prudent to join one of the breakdown services such as the AA or RAC.

Is one better than the other, are there private companies, special deals etc.

Any help would be appreciated. :D

Hi!

If you have, or will open a Barclays bank account, they have a Additions extra, IIRC I think it's about 14 quid a month, (might be less) but you get travel insurance, mobile phone cover and lots of other things including RAC breakdown cover. Though when i asked about it they said i had a motorhome which they don't cover, I tried arguing the fact that it isn't a motorhome, but the woman who had little info wasn't sure.

Anyway, after speaking to a RAC man, they will cover a camper, as they do with any vehicle under 3.5 tonnes (i think), so just tell them it's a VW Transporter - it doesn't matter what's inside the bus - it's the weight limit they want to klnow, and most motorhomes are more than 3 tonnes.
So you should be ok.

If you intend to use the options the account gives you, I think it's quite good value - have a look into it.

Be carefull with that Barclays cover, I had that but they would only tow me 10 miles, which is pants!

you can get brakedown cover with a lot of insurance companies now too.

Thanks

Mark
