Is it possible to fit a t25 2.0 ltr type IV engine (Engine code CU) into an early bay riviera (1972) to replace a 1700 cc type IV Engine (engine Code CB).

im guessing it will just be the tin ware that will need swapping over.

Looking to buy today if it will fit

any help appreciated .

you will need the 79 only heat exchangers cos the exhaust ports are differant,if it has electronic ign thats easy to wire in.as far as i know you just need to swop fan housing/tin over 8)

Just been reading another post on another site, they mention about requiring the 2 litre Gearbox to match and something about modifying the engine support bar ( or can i use the bar from the 1.7 ltr engine)?

oh and the oil dip stick/filler needs re positioning.

does anyone know anyone that has tried this mod?

Ok totally confused now, re reading the other post i think the other guy was upgrading from a 1600 to a type 4 engine.

sounds about right ;) just use your tin and fan ect ,its just those heat ex££££££££ a 2l gear box would be nice for relaxed cruising ,1700 box has same ratio as 1600.

Cheers for getting back

The engine has the heat exchangers with it, But not too sure what condition they are in.

What would be the effect of using current gearbox with a 2 litre engine ( i assume high torque and low speed and poor fuel efficiency)

looking to see what i can pick up a gearbox for a cu engine for, you wouldnt happen to know te gearbox code for one?
