Hi all - how hard is it to replace the wiper motor? Think mine is playing up. Only one speed is working and if they are on for a while you can certainly smell the motor working. Anyone else suffer these problems? Cheers

What are the condition of the spindles like? If they are at all rusted or seized then this will heavily load the motor and perhaps give the impression that there is only one speed. Normally the motor has to come out complete with the rack. Make sure you make a note of the connections on the switch before you start.

Hmmm...you're gonna have to get basic (sorry)! how do I check the spindles?

Does the screen have to come out to get the motor out?

The spindles are what the wiper arms are attached to. Lubricate them with oil where the moving bit passes through the fixed bit. Using your manual (Haynes) locate the wiper motor, it's behind the dashboard. The manual should explain how to take it out. Make sure you find and understand how it is connected to the wiper switch. Make detailed notes as you will need them if you do take the motor out
