Hi guys, i'm just trying to finish off my wiring of my porsche engine, but there is one thing i dont really understand.
first off let me explain the problem:
when i crank the beast over it fires up fine, but when i loose go of the ignition key (so the ignition returns to ignition live, 15) the engine just stops. i thought that the problem may have been that the fuel pump relay didnt stay latched and therefore stopped pumpung. however, the wiring for this is correct.
then i noticed a slight difference in the vw start and the porsche.
on my porsche wiring diagram it says there are 3 terminals, labelled 30, 50 and 15a.
30 is connected to the main battery - permanent live
50 is connected to the ignition cranking live
15a i do not have!!!
all that is supposed to go from 15a on the starter is a wire to the "start valve" which i belive is a cold start valve as it is also connected to the thermo switch in the cam chain cover.
i currently have this 15a connect also coming from my 50 terminal on starter. woudl this cause the engine not to stay idling due to temperature? if so, which i hope it is as i have no other ideas what it can be, can i just re-wire this to any other 15 ignition live, or does the (a) stand for anything inparticular
help really needed here. i want to get this sorted this evening!!
Thanks
