This is not a for sale thread, what I am trying to gauge is interest in whether there would be interest in new seat runners / brackets?

I'm asking as the outer one (sits over the wheel) is the one that rusts and that means you need to source a good section hand one to replace it (or if someone has removed them to fit aftermarket seats and you want to go back to stock).

I have had to pay up to £70 for a good rust free RHD set and £60 for LHD rust free, then drill out the spot welds from where they were cut from the scrap vehicle and have a section of tub attached.

-as fitted to my bus

Anyways, a fabricator I know thinks he can make a set for £40-50 provided he makes them 10 at a time, so I said I'd ask on here as to be honest that is cheaper than a scrap cut and new + plus no messing around prepping the s/hand ones. They would be supplied in bare steel with the holes from the plug welds pre cut so simply offer up, tack to check fit and then weld in place.

I imagine it would be 2/3 the price for the outer section only and he thinks £10-15 for the passanger brackets on their own (currently £26 from KK)

These are what he would make (LHD and RHD runners)

I will see him again after Christmas and if there is enough interest I'll get some deposits and get him to make them (he has LHD and RHD OG runners to fabricate the new ones from)

Would anyone be after these?

Yes please :D

Currently searching for runners so very interested in runners and brackets as I'm looking to refit original seats.

I'll see him next week at some point but I very much doubt he'll just make 2 as the cost would be too much, he needs 10 pairs at a time when we spoke last time (and that was the minimum.

Well, it looks like good news. He should have sorted a prototype in the next week or 2.

Also, price seems to be holding so that is a positive. If I can get enough interest from you guys then he can make up batches in 15's for an even lesser rate.

Come on guys, let me know if you are interested.

I hadn't even realised that the seats moved, which I guess means mine are rusted or broken- fooked either way really ... So I guess that means I'm interested

A set has been made, the company that cut the prototype blanks made an error and have apparently rectified this and posted out a new set for the final prototype (these were just the blanks).........which they blame their courier for misplacing.

A real pain in the ass but that's life.

I am not making these which limits my control on the process, I had simple lend my parts to a fabricator and it would be his thing. He's a good guy and has been busy working on other projects for me so I think that with the courier mess up it has hit the back burner (and he'll be in trouble if be doesn't get one of my jobs out this week which for me is the priority :msn4: )

That said I saw him Monday and I suggested he went elsewhere for the cutting so am hopeful he'll get this sorted as I keep reminding him there are more than a few people after these.

I will keep chasing guys, keep the faith :party0023:

Well, I've been told another company are now to supply blanks to Mr Fabricator to be bent up into shape so lets see what next week brings.

Whilstler -in other news I now have goggles as recommended by you. Have to say the young female doctor I saw yesterday for removing the last of last weekends metal from my eye was stunning however as nice as she was I hope the goggles do the trick and I don't need to return. Long live the VW resto's and good eyesight (and I hope these runners get sorted)

Good! I think they are brilliant personally. No issues what so ever, and I am pretty much using them everyday. I've also found that I leave them on more than the glasses type for some reason :?
