Just had a flier through the door about the M4 being closed for a long weekend from 7pm Friday 18th October right through until the Monday. They’re diverting the utilities that run through that bridge over the M4 that they’re going to demolish next year. All diverted traffic will get off at Bristol M32 , along the ring road then up the A420 and up tog hill then along the A46 then back to the M4 on th3 Bath junction, this will be both ways. So it will be closed between junction’s 18 and 19 all weekend. If they don’t get it finished, they’ll close it again the following weekend. This will not only be catastrophic locally, the tailbacks will block the M5 M4 junctions for quite a way and probably all of the Severn crossings too. If you need to come this way, stay away from this motorway.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,heads up. :)

Thanks for the heads up Ozzie.
That’s a right bugger as have a job to get to and from in North Cornwall around then.
🤞I miss anything in the Thursday night on the way there. Sounds like the Saturday trip home will be a long slog again though 🤦🏻

This will put a proper strain not only on the M4 but also the M5 for quite a few junctions both North and South of the M4 M5 junction. Your only real option will be to leave the M5 at Taunton or Bridgewater and head for Glastonbury, Wells, then Frome, Trowbridge, and hit the M4 again at Chippenham unless you leave Cornwall and head east from the start and gradually come up. The big thing is staying away from Bristol and from Bath. This isn’t a slur or a put down bud or an dissss of any shape or form and normally I’d love to see you down Bristol way, maybe even wave out as you go past just not that weekend.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,get stuck, ring me :)

Just a reminder for our Earlybay Gang Stars. It’s this weekend that the M4 is shut between junctions 18 and 19 until Monday morning. Don’t come near if you can help it. I would imagine the tailbacks will cause holdups on the M4 and M5 for the entire weekend, guess who now has to go to Swindon tomorrow and Bath on Sunday!

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,you just couldn’t make it up ! :)

Went through the diversions this morning.
Heading towards London was ok.
HUGE queues heading the other way though 😬
