Hello All, I haven't posted in ages, mostly due to lack of time but I'm about to start getting my bug and buss back on the road. I'm working on my bug at the moment, I cant get it to idle its a 1600 twin port with a single 34 Pict3 carb, I've rebuilt the carb all except for removing the ball bearing in the float bowl. My question is would this affect the car idling? If so how do I remove it to clean it.

For information, the car starts right away and will keep running as long as I keep blipping the throttle as soon as I let go it stalls.

I have also set the Idle Air mixture and Air by pass as per recommendations.

Not that I'm aware of, I sprayed the engine with brake cleaner while it was running and had no change in engine noise.

Is the cut off solenoid working? other than that there must still be a blockage.

Tested the cut off solenoid and that works. I think you are right must be a blockage somewhere. i'll strip it back down and give it a good blast with carb cleaner.

There are a couple of good YouTube videos on stripping down and rebuilding a 34 pict 3 which show the trick of how to remove the ball bearing.
