currently rebuilding carb, also replacing intake manifold to head gaskets - when i took it all apart the PO had plastered everything n gasket sealant. so do I need to use any for reassembly - I'm thinking that VW probably didn't use any when the engine was new and its more for bodging ???

How long can you leave your van primered with red oxide? Just trying to work out how long i have to get all the bodywork/rust sorted before spraying a top coat. or would you sort a panel/area and then primer and top coat, then fix the next panel until all done and then give it a final top coat?
