1969 (For some crazy reason, this camper has a 71 style rim on the rear passenger axle????) but the Vin #, Tile and M plate are all 1969!!! This Westfalia Poptop Camper Van that had been painted in the Pointilist Style, with images from Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead and Tina Turner, the MajaRishni in his meditative yogi pose, to Native American Indians and Cowboys, this is curently a rolling, eye catching, people stopping camper van that will bring a lot of lot of attention if that's what you're after.
Artwork was done by a Northern California Artist over 10 years ago, I'll be posting a link to his name later today. Lots of original VW Booklets, It's first 40,000 miles appear to be serviced in Europe based on the numerous service history stamps.
Body is straight and solid, rockers look great, does not appear to be any rust in the battery tray or other side tray either!
Front lower driver nose area got a dent from hitting a small deer, you can see some of the paint damage but not too bad, can be touched up and matched by a decent artist. floors are good, interior is complete, even has the Westy Stool. Engine needs to be rebuilt, sitting in the back, looks to be complete. small dent in passenger rear corner as well. Obviously it is hard to tell exact body condition, but the rockers, rear trays, underneath and frame, front nose, doors opening and closing nicely, all appear to show this is a nice solid Westfalia Camper.
Poptop canvas is aftermarket with a tear in the bottom back but functional.
I sell complete rear Westy Vinyl covers that are a great match to originals, a new set can be included for 225 pounds.
The artists name is Norm Dillinger, Here's a link to his artwork

Thats one cool bus Darren, I like that a lot

That is Awesome - I just love it

Just think what this would look like slammed on Radars 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Some-one pleeese bring it over :D

What a lovely bus...can't imagine how long it must have taken the guy to paint it!...Surely that should be in a special collection or museum...Sad to think that todays equivalent might be a 0-11 plat, ford transit covered in images of X Factor and BGT winners...Sorry for the sarcasm.
Greek.

Crowds will gather, fingers will point, people will smile, you'll never lack attention or compliments in this van!
And she's straight and solid and complete, and has documentation from her beginning! What else are you looking for?
Make me an offer, I'll sell w/out the engine, include all new rear covers, let's make a deal on this and give her back to the world to admire.
cheers!

Imagine having a little prang in that bus; 'yeah, just touch it in mate'

nice one though

If this has european service history it should be an import to the us... That should meen no VAT when you bring it back... M-code will confirm...

Could end up being a very cheap bus for someone..!

according to the Samba, UT indicates Tourist Delivery, and according to the record Log for this camper, she spent well over her first 20,000 km's in Germany and Europe before crossing the pond. Please confirm with other sources that this van does not need to pay the VAT, if that's the case someone should have a nice chunk of extra change to spend on rebuilding the engine and a few beers!
Thanks for the info Ben!
I owe ya.

You didn't get that from me buddy. As far as I know the VAT will be either 5% or 20%, but the duty will be a flat rate of £50 as its being brought back home to the EU. That's only what I've read though and to be honest I've heard different from other people on here.

4400 Pounds delivered to Thamesport or Tilbury which will include a new 8 piece set of new Westy rear mustard colored covers. Same material as used in the Niagra blue Westy being advertised.

Cant say for certain but think this should be VAT free...

semi confirms my thoughts but proper black and white facts are needed...

im half way through a sale with Darren and i can say he has been a gent to dea with, im a first time importer and he has made it VERY easy...

Good luck to the buyer.!

Personally I think the NO VAT thing is questionable and to be honest if it can be brought in on the 5% VAT rule then its hardly worth arguing about, remember the VAT is charged on a proportion of the shipping as well so even if you do prove it to HMRC's satisfaction (which could take a while) you will still be liable for some VAT.

With the 5% Vat rule and the duty etc I still doubt the import fees due will be much more than £200 -£250 on this bus (no guarentee just my experience, remember HMRC are a law unto themselves)

On top of that you will still need landing fees of £360 and transport away from the docks. so its still likely to be here with all fees paid for approx £5K if someone imports it personally. (If I do it I have to charge VAT on the sale price so its a lot more)

I'm not sure on the VAT fees as I said above, only going by what another user has stated. I've included all the info/pics on my end (the M Plate, Original VW Dealership Service Log showing European Dealership stamps for the first 30k km's of the van's life, so please make your calls to confirm what $$ can be saved, if any.

I've sent vans into both Tilbury and Thamesport and understand they both charge you a number of different fees just to load/unload and process your van.

I've also used Steve Mason, a local Brit that spends part of the year near my home here in San diego area and the rest back at his business in Derbyshire. He charges approx. 1300-1400 Pounds to have a van shipped from his yard here in San diego to his business in Derbyshire. The only other fees he charges are your VAT which are based on your Bill of Sale. It might make sense$$ to look into using his services?
