Today I had a few hours spare before my night shift.
I started with building up the shifter

I then moved on to cleaning up my spindles and painting them.
I neglected to take a before image but they looked like rusty heaps of poop.

Just the backing plate to do and then I can build this corner up.

Cheers mate I was only supposed to be swapping the beam and fitting Air shocks.
When I built the bus a few years ago it was all done on my mates drive so I couldn't just pop out and do a few bits, this meant that I had to throw it all together and not detail anything, It's nice to have the time to do it all properly... Well as much as funds allow !!!

Built the right spindle up this evening. Slow going at the moment but thats life I guess.

Still need to clean and paint the drum, re-build the wheel bearing and clean and paint the dust cap.

Modified lower arms arrived so I shot some paint on them.

Hey Sam, thanks, just for the record, how much is your beam narrowed? You have dropped spindels and airshocks?
Greetz mycha

No worries Mycha, it's narrowed by 3" I have to use some spacers on the top mount,I can measure these for you if you want and the new lower mount moves the bottom out and away, I can measure it all if you want.
I am using the same Gabriel air shocks as yourself, and 3.5" T2D dropped spindles.

Thanks man, i’m going to convert my westy to ridetech airshocks so maybe i copy the lower mount 8) for some extra space :beerchug: Thanks ;).

They look like nice bits of kit, is that rebound adjustment I see on them.
I will try and get the measurements for you tomorrow.

Sam where do u find all this time to get all these jobs done

Your a family working man yes?

Doing well mate!
Always impressed with your work

Cheers Paul.

ha ha James yes, I work shifts and on a Fridays my son is in nursery all day so if I'm on a late or night shift then I get a bit of time, apart from that i spend 1 evening in the garage and one with my wife, she is very understanding and luckily loves old VW's, she is from Cornwall so it's in her DNA !

Just got round to reading your thread Sam.

Really nice looking bus and some great detailing work going down. I just love a white westy on sprintstars 8)

Mine was a bit like yours, put together quickly to use last summer and now I'm re-doing bits as and when time permits.

What paint are you using for the mechanical bits?

Cheers mate, the paint is just Halfords grey primer, gloss black and clear lacquer.
It's an expensive way of doing it as you can get it much cheeper of the internet.
I worked out that for my breaks, trailing arms, gear selector rod and gear stick plus a few brackets I have spent about £70-80.
It's nice to paint with though.
