The smile is still there :D

This week connected a new fuel lines between the tank and the electric fuel pump. Also installed a filter and filter and a safety cut-out relay for the electric fuel pump. No pics ;-)
Also started with sanding the bumpers. The rear bumper wasn't very straight but made it a little straighter with a piece of wood and a hammer  Both bumpers had some rust, so I've decided to let them sandblasted, scouperen (metallize?) and spray them with a basecoat. I'm gonna collect them this week . . . Next week fit them first, and then starting with new paint on it.

So, the bumpers are back and they looked not bad at all. Okay, there where some dents in them, but that's no problem. I prefer an 'used' look so it suits the body of the bus better. Sanded them and sprayed a first layer of oxid red. Today spraying the next layer . . .

From this . . .

. . . to this.

One year ago the bus collapsed . . . so I had to replace the louvered windows. I'd found some used 3/4 - 1/4 windows, but the had some minor rust issues on the 1/4 window frames. I've removed the seals and sanded them. Also some oxide red primer . . .

The engine is getting there slowly . . . Only a few things to be done. Yesterday made some connections to fit the hoses for the crankcase ventilation. The angle was to sharp for the hose, so made it with some copper and clamps. It isn't really beautiful, but it's out of sight.

Also fitted the collector into the engine room.

Last things to do:
• Replace the oil pressure sender (from 5 to 10 bar)
• Replace the carter drain plate by an CSP drain plate with oil temperature sender.
• Installing new gas cable

Maybe end of February the engine will be mounted in Lefty? ;)

Had done some small thing to get the engine ready for mounting. Placed an CSP bracket with oil temp sender in it and also replaced the oil pressure sender to a 10 bar model. Next thing is fitting a new gas cable and the install the engine!! After installing the engine I'll place the oil filter, thermostat and external cooler.

Cleaned up and turned Lefty so it can meet it's heart already :D
Nice view of the Shack, Lefty is in good company with some real nice cars!

Now that's what i call a very nice garage
And bus is going to a great one to drive the dutch roads :D

Thnx for the nice response :D

The engine is in! With some patience and precision moves it fits perfectly.

Gearbox cable, gas cable, fuel line and carter ventilation is ready (need only a little air filter). Next time get the engine wiring done. Also mount the oil filter etc. to get rid of the oil hoses ;)

Last week also sprayed the bumpers and gave them a handmade patina-look. Not the best paint/patina job but for now its good enough

No new updates on the engine. Next week I've got some time to put it on a ramp and install it and start it up (hopefully).
This week started with the left (middle) window. One year ago the louvered window was damaged by the 'crash'. So I've searched for original deluxe windows. Got some new seals with it, the 1/4 pieces are from Custom & Commercial and fits really well!

The 3/4 seal was also an good (unknown) quality. Only the metal chrome insert . . . :? After some struggling and soaping the insert fits okay.

Then the next part: mounting the window. Started with the 1/4 and we needed a hammer to get it in place :| Maybe there's some invisible injury on the pillar after the damage repair . . . but okay, the 1/4 window fits. Then we placed the 3/4 piece. That fits perfectly.

So all complete now, had another 40 minutes spend on the 1/4 window. It won't close . . . some though new rubbers and maybe some tension in the window frame. Finally closed it and didn't touch it after that ;) In a few weeks the other side has to be done too. So if any of you is interested in a Louvred window . . . PM me.

Yeah!!! After hours of installing the oil filter / oil cooler / thermostat and hoses, connecting electricity cables (with help from my friends) and tiding it up, I've made a first run with Lefty! The engine sounds really nice and smooth. The smile is still on my face

The light is already repaired ;)

Now getting it ready for Dutch MOT! Need to install an electric pump on the window washer bottle and place the license plate light. Also installing the rear and middle bankseats. Within a week or 2 it hopefully passed MOT and drive it!

Last week worked hard to get Lefty ready for MOT. Last check-up on electricity, lubricate the front beam etc. There where some problem with the brakes :( Looked at it with a few people and make sure there's no air in the brake system . . . also double checked the rear brakes. The problem is that when hitting the brake pedal the first time, it sits very low. The second pump it is okay.

Last saturday and sunday checked the brakes over and over . . . and again it's not okay. Make a little testdrive to get at least some fun ;)

Last monday the big day was there: Lefty goes to Dutch MOT. Had serious a big smile on the face when driving it, but damn . . . the brakes are really not good.
The inspection guy was very surprised by seeing the clean underside of Lefty. He complimented me for the nice work I had done. He pointed me some little beginner-errors, but with a smile. Of course the brakes aren't okay . . . that was no surprise to me. Some other small things came out of the MOT:

- installing other lightbulbs (done)
- get rid of the spring-rings under the steering-joints (done)
- The M-plate is missing . . . so I need to get some documentation to proof the type ??
- The engine-code is missing, which can be solved by the original bill of sale from the engine

Yesterday had a last look on the brakes. Everything is double checked again (by a specialist FastOldies.nl). . . and again it brakes bad the first pedal hit. Today went to Erwin from Volksprojects. His tought was the same as we had yesterday . . . maybe the problem is the (newly installed) master brakecilinder. So got a new one which will be installed next week . . . Hopefully this will solve the problem.

Had the same problem with my brakes, new master cylinder solved it !!!!
Don't forget to bleed it before fitting ;)

New master brake cilinder installed, bleeded the whole system and yess . . . problem solved!! Now the brake pedal is hard as a rock
Had to replace the hose between filling reservoir and reservoir on the master brake cilinder. I've used an EPDM fuel line . . . this should be ok.
Thnx to T2only for helping me out!

Also made a simple wooden floor. Have to decide if I go for linoleum or carpet . . . but first need MOT!
