Was out in the bay the other night, got pulled by the rozzers, i thought **** speeding because the speedo is abit off.
I was wrong it seems this particular copper knew that yankee number plate are'nt legal. When he asked me why i had them and i replied they look cooler than uk plates he got rather up tight. After that he seemed set on finding other thing to do me on, like us spec indicators and a 'noisy' exhaust? Even though its a quite pack? So i got told 'you have 7 days to produce your documents at your local station'

Put brit plates on it and went the cop stop, got away with the other stuff then when i got home i put the us plates back on lol

they will have logged that. i drove a car without a front number plate (cuz it was cooler)
got stoped again
then again
and again
another time
and once more

then got taken to court thinking it was for just for the one
they gave me 2 points for each one and a 6 month ban plus £322 fine

and was told not to drive home as they were watchin my car (it was a mini)

TBH you're asking for trouble if you persist - but it is tempting

;)

Doesn't it say in the regulations you are allowed to have a plate made to fit the original aperture?

Or did you have the wrong colours (Yellow/Blue - Black/Yellow)?

I use black and white US style plates because they are the only ones that fit in the apertures (Plate Surrounds).

Never get smart with a copper, they are only human and tend to bite back harder.....say Sorry, plead ignorance and they often "let you off this once"

I got tagged twice in the work van. I had a warning, then got a fine. It must have been in the system.

You will be a marked man now. Get your proper plates on or you will be in more trouble.

Apparantly the only vehicles that can have the u.s. size plates are those that are specifically designed to take them which doesnt include Bays.
I guess its how you handle the cops if they pull you, if you dont give them too much lip your more likely to pull it off

We once got pulled by the cops for having no lights on the Notch (the dynamo had packed up) - when Rach stalled it  setting off, they ended up giving us a push

isn`t there a song about this kind of thing by nwa...along the line of f%%k DA POLICE

That track comes with a compulsory 6 Points I recon. Be nice - no matter how much it pains you!

I think the law is vague enough to get away with US black and white plates in a US spec surround on a US bus, but I think Wibbler is right, we should be fitting correct plates. The only bit mine doesn't conform to is the height and width. Not too bad really. If I find a personal plate with less numbers/letters I could have a legal set made up to fit in the surround. 8)

You can have 4 BAY for 8 grand or 5 BAY for 6.5K

if you look into the fine print of the law it actually states that any vehicle that has new plates fitted after 2001 has to have the new regulation plates so technically if your bus has been imported after that date or you just want to change the original plates for some pressed steel ones you should be fitting the new style ones or your breaking the law. You and about 2 million others

I want AUX 69G or AUX 75 - but never really looked as I normally hate personalised number plates.

Yeah tbh i was asking for it being abit 'smart'. My us plates are black and silver for they look like old skool english plates at a glance. But the letters are holographic so whenever sunlight or headlamps etc shine on them they turn pretty colors so i guess thats what got his attention. But i do still stand by my arguement..... They look cool 8)

Oh and i got told off for having the OG blue and yellow amercian plate that was on it when i imported it sitting on the dashboard

Does the law state where your plates should be positioned on the front or rear :?:
If you put a us plate on the front "They look better with over riders" and put your UK pressed plate on the dash facing the window.Would you be breaking the law

Dunno about that, i remember seeing that slammed delta green south coast customs kombi rolling around santa pod with a black and gold cali style plates fitted and the front 1 was on the dash board, i thought to myself how does he get away with that??? The filth on the south coast must just be abit less strict than the good ol' suffolk bobbys

Grazy rolls without a front plate, he is pretty lucky not to have been stopped in all honesty. but his panel does look better without it though 8)

And whats even more suprising is, a guy in Woodbridge/martlesham called Dan was running an early 60's bug on the streets with a chrome stinger sticking out the back! That just lucky not getting pulled for that

Some folk remove their front plates or fit yank ones on when thy get to a show then put the proper ones back on when they leave.

And have you noticed Grazy not been on here lately, hes doing a stretch in Guantanamo for no front plate and too low without due care and attention

Free Grazy!!!
