72 indicator 7 to 5 wire swap?

My indicator switch (us 5 wire) works but is fairly worn but I have a European 7 wire switch which feels much better. I’m no expert on electrics and looking at the wiring diagrams I’m even more confused. Anyone know if these are compatible and if I can use the 7 switch? grateful for any help

It will fit, i have done it to mine,
Can’t recall the exact colour scheme but went through with a meter and it all works perfect. Leave the other 2 taped off

Good news. Not sure what the other 2 wires did but they are just taped off in mine
