Cracking work Reto looks like it will be a great bus, nice garage by the way.

Thank you! :) Will do my best! The first idea was, to be ready with the bus this summer! But as you all know, there is allways much more work to do than you expect! So we are looking forward the the summer 2015...

Yesterday I put the kitchen sink back in the bus. Was a quick job! In the cool box there is a small hose for the refrigerated compartment. Can anybody tell me, where this hose goes to? I've no idea! :?

I think the one you are talking about goes from the ice tray drain through a hole in the back of the cool box and then out of the hole in the floor.

That's exactly what I mean! Then it goes out the floor like the outflow from the kitchen sink?

Any trouble fitting the drain breather?? I have tried two times now and i can´t get it right. It is as if the headliner is in the way or something. :?

Have you put a new floor in ? is it exactly the same thickness as the old one ? if its thicker then it push the sink unit up and intern the breather pipe won't fit.

If the floor has the same thickness, you wouldn't have any problem! :)

After we were back from Esher I had to weld some louvers from a Renault in the engine hood from a good friends bug.

The two hoods...

Hi everybody!
Some time is gone since my last post, but I'm still working hard to get the westy back on the street!

The tailgate got his final paint. I know, it's not perfect, but I'm happy with the result! We did all the work in the backyard from my parents, so I would say it looks not too bad! :)

The engine lid

After painting, I've grinded the fresh paint with some 1200 sandpaper. After grinding, I gave the paint a good polish!

At the engine I had some troubles to mount the engine mounting bar with the full flow oil pump.

First I had to cut off some steel.

Foto5_zps3bad95ea.jpg

Then I made a custom piece of steel.

Foto7_zps37f29ff6.jpg

Then started the welding.

Foto4_zpsbbbadebb.jpg

And finally powdercoated and mounted on the engine.

Now the engine is nearly done. Only the carburetor need a rebuild.

I got the right intermediate plates for the rear bumper from a guy from Berlin. First I had the wrong ones from a Split. One the pic you can see the difference...

The wheels are out the house to get some black paint.

I got also a set of original porsche central caps from my buddy Walter. :) :)

I had the great pleasure, to drove his 164 hp bug to the Luftkraft DynoDay! This engine is pure porn! Walter put all his knowledge from 40 years of racing in this car! I had the whole day a big smile on my Face, thanks Walter!

Paint looks good in the pics so well done 8)

Thanks! :) Next step is to blend the welded areas on the bus. Hope the result will be worth all the work! There is still a lot of OG paint on the bus, so I try to save as much possible!

Hi everybody!
One week of holiday means, one week in the garage! Some more work is done on the bus. At the start of my holiday, I thought I could do more. But as always, the time is running and the week is over!
So here some pics from last week in the garage!

Prepared the back of the bus for some fresh sierra yellow.

Painted :)

If the paint is dry, I will polish the whole back of the bus.

I also gave the underside of the sliding door some fresh paint.
P7213228_zpsbe3524d9.jpg

And after cleaning up the sliding door, I've mounted back the westy window.
P7293327_zpsaf61e7bb.jpg

Gave all doors some protection wax.
P7283320_zpsa7b92eda.jpg

I've also mounted the panels in the doors. At first my girlfriend grind them with sandpaper and gave them some protection with clear lacquer. So we could get all the original panels with some nice patina!

VOLKSWAGEN batch back on its place!
P7283317_zps378d800a.jpg

Next work was to repair the Eberspäcker BN4 heater. One fuse was missing and the wiring was not how it should be. After some good cleaning and the small repairs, the heater works like on their first day! ;)
P8013345_zps9867e2b1.jpg

I got a new light for the license plate. Was a quick job!
P7283308_zps3855b482.jpg

And last but not least my fuchs rims good some detailing from Andi Siegrist, aka Mr.Rennmeister! Thanks a lot! :D :D

The Eberspächer works really well! If you go camping when the weather isn't so good, you will never ever freeze! ;)
