Hi guys!
I'm new here so I wanna say some words about me. I'm Reto, 27 years old and I came from Switzerland. Since 15 years, aircooled Volswagen are a big part of my live. When I was 16 years old I bought my first car. It was a 71 Superbeetle witch I restore over 7 years.
After the restauration the Superbee looks like this:

Now some years are gone and I think it's time for a new aircooled Volkswagen in my garage. I'm searching a long time for baywindow or split. But in Switzerland it's really difficult to find a good car. After a long search I found not so far away a 72 sierrayellow westy.

This was the day when I and my girlfriend pickup the bay.

The preowner:

First step was to clean up the bus.

Lot of dirt on the roof.

Then it was time to go home!

The roof was the first thing we start with.

My girlfriend polish the roof.

The westy pop top need also some work. The wet weather in Switzerland isn't the best for the wood-parts on the roof!

After we mount some new woodbar it looks much better.

And back on the bus!

There will be a lot more work on the bus! The bus will need some serious welding. This part will be done by Thomas Koch from Hammered Inc. He and his brother Fabian build the famous chopped splitbug who makes best of show at the Volksworld Show 2010!

Thanks guys!
Hope to be ready for next season! But there is still a lot of work to do! The bus needs to go a bit lower. Some nice rims would be under the Christmastree! :D

The bumpers get some fresh paint.

I'm looking for some overriders for my bumpers. After a long search I found some in California. They get also some new paint. The rubbers are the old ones. To mount the overriders I still need the rubber between bumper and overriders, someone know where I can get them?

Then I got a lot of parts back from powdercoating. Ready to rebuild all the stuff.

This summer I was with my girlfriend for 5 weeks in California. As a little present for the bay we brought this licence plate back!

We were also in Joshua tree this summer! Really nice place! Do you have some more information about my license plate?
Thanks

I bought the frames for the license plates in the moon shop in los angeles. If you ever have the possibility to visit this shop, do it! They show us the whole shop, very cool!

I can try to do a DMV search and see what I can find

The last few weeks the bay was in the hands from Thomas Koch, one of the builder of the Hammered Inc. splitbug. He had a lot of rust-repairs to do. As allways, there was more rust that I thought!
The rusty parts on the bus:

I could post many pics from the rusty parts, but I like more the new metall witch Thomas welded in! :)
I only can say, he is the man! Great job done!

After his work, the bus looks like this! :D :D :D :D
