Got also a set of dropped spindels from vintage autohaus. They are well done! I will modify them so they will work with the brake from my 72 bay!

The interieur get some speaker in the back. I've already mounted some in the kick panels at the front. I think a subwoofer would be nice for some good sound! But I don't know where to mount. Should think about that.

Very nice metal work.!!!!! Are you doing a full respray or just blending in the repairs?

Thanks for your comments! :) For the moment I will only blending the repairs. I don't know exactly, how I should do with the blended areas. Some good tipps for me? Perhaps I will respray the whole bus later. But now I want to use my bay for camping and don't want a perfect car that sits in the garage!

Reto

Blended in a few repairs on my bus then clear laquered the whole lot!!!
I think it looks 8) most people don't get it :?
It was harder than re spraying it all properly

Have a look below ???

I read the thread from your bus! Really nice bay! Specially the paint job you did is just great! I love it! I think my paint job will not be as good as yours!
Will make some pics from below and post them at the weekend!

More updates on my bay! :)
At first, some pics for Lee C from the repaired areas. Still don't know, how I should blend this areas?!? :?

Saturday we did some more progress on the bus. At first I install the left pop-out window with a new seal.

P2012460_zps47169f30.jpg

At the top of the window, the seal didn't fit perfect. :? After the third try, I let the window in. I will try it later with an other seal.

Then it was time for the box over the bed. (I don't know how it calls exactly in english)
The preowner made some ugly holes in it.

So I decided to put some LED-spotlight and some speakers in it. Looks not too bad for me!
The installation from behind:

And finally mounted in the bus:

Then I tried to mount the sheet metall between the rear bumper and the corners. (Second time, I don't know how it calls exactly in english  ) But they will definitely not fit! To big! I bought them from a guy who told me that they were for a 71/72 baywindow bus. Now they are powdercoated and doesn't fit! Perhabs they're from a Splitwindow? If someone have the right ones for my bay, let me know!

Best regards
Reto

Looks 8) !!!
With that amount of primer on now & with you fitting windows already, I think I'd be tempted to paint the bottom half up to the swage line????

Had some free time to work on the westy! :)
The hinges from my rock n' roll bed were a bit rusty. So I decided to sandblast them and give them some primer and two layers of fresh black paint.

My upholsterer put the new covers on my westy bench, which I bought in the forum.

I hope I can mount the bench at the weekend back in the bus! ;)

One step forward was made in the wheel housing. I've grinded all the welding down and put some primer on.

I had also some work with the engine. First I only want to clean it up and powder coat all the paneling. But after a visit from my engine builder, there was some more to do than only clean up.
The cylinderheads witch were on the engine were fuking cheap repro-heads! Three or four valve seats fell out of the heads. Also the cylinders and the pistons weren't in a good shape.
So we replace the heads, cylinders and pistons with new NOS Volkswagen parts! Looks much better now! ;)

Ready to put back together!

Hi!
Thank's for the nice words! :)
I've a good friend, which work with his father as a specialist for custom made engine parts. They had some CNC-milling machines witch will help us to put your spindels on my 72 Westy and on his 72 Single cab without changing the original brakes!
Hope everything will work as we thought! :D
Best regards

I have recently done this job also and had the same problem, when pulling the glass shut it was coming against the metal frame and would surely break, my "solution" has been to remove the felt which holds the 1/4 glass in the frame, with this removed the glass can be held in with black bonding, I used "tiger seal" it sounds like a bodge but no other way I could think to do it!

Sounds like a good idea! Thanks for your advice!
