as I have had no luck in finding a sunroof Kombi with my wanted ad
I am going to try another approach
would anyone be interested in a swap type deal
but be warned I am very fussy and it will have to be as good as mine or better for me to get into a deal ------ ask Kempy

this is what I have to swap , the bay window

it is a very definite swap I am looking for ,
please do not ask if I will sell it outright as I have someone already waiting for it should I completely loose my mind

OK , lets see if this daft idea works

I have an old packet of crisps and a ball point pen with no ink in it

Good luck with the swapsies :D

I'll cut a hole in the roof of ours and swap it with your if you want?!

Looks like a nice bus.

Wasn't someone on here selling the roof from a sunroof deluxe recently?

Have you considered welding a replacement roof in?

Could be worth it if you're happy with you're van in every way except the roof?

That would be a crime to spoil a beautiful van like that 8)

Plus I dont think hes wanting to take on much work, I believe hes after a nice example with minimal work to do.

Please correct me if im wrong....WWW....

For those who don't realise this is the bay.

There is more chance of pigs flying than Ernie fitting a sunroof in this van.

you are spot on Mike

there is no way on earth I would change this van from its original state
its just too good to mess with , not that many left in this condition and
the interior is just stunning and may be the deciding factor with this daft
idea of mine after taking so long to decide to go into print

I just think a sunroof Kombi would suit me better and someone else could have the benefits of the Devon ,
not too fussed on year either a later bay will work ,

its condition that is the major factor

no need to apologise mate , its not really that special

or is it  I'll leave that one to the experts :)

its just a very nice unmessed with example and should really stay as it is
and I have been looking for a sunroof Kombi on and off for a while but
have not found one upto my fussy standards
and the Devon came up quite unexpectedly and is a very nice "stop gap"
Bay until I find a sunroof model in the same condition

can't really explain what it is with a sunroof model , I just want one

now then experts
with all the talk of cutting holes in roofs etc etc

if I were to find a Camper with the small pop-top ,
is that roof cutout the same size as a factory sunroof cutout

if it is , would it save grafting a full roof section in ???

maybe just the runners & sunroof

na !!!!! it couldn't be that simple , could it

Most factory westys ( if not all) where built using sunroof shells, and ive heard off people fitting the sunroofs afterwards. As far as I know the runners etc are there but not the drain tubes, though you can fashion a drainage system fairly easily. Finding a good sunroof and all the hardware is the biggest prob.

Quite a bit of info on thesamba.com to confirm this, worth a browse i.e.

My own sunroof kombi on my daughters prom night.

thanks for that

can anyone else confirm this

well if nothing else it might give me another option to look into

Nice van :D

I was told the same thing. On my westy the roof cut out is a funny shape at the front, this was where the handle sould go. I think they are double skined as well.
I was after a sunroof but they seem few and far between. I hope you find one.

so do I

I'll keep looking for a bit longer ,
if nothing turns up it might be time for me to go all American
seen a few nice Day vans that might just work

You'll be taking up line dancing and wearing cowboy boots next
