it is actually part of the throttle positioner, used to reduce the sudden shut down when the foots taken off the pedal, and yes forms part of the emmissions control....

do you have any pics of it all connected up ??????????

Oh right, very good, i though the sudden shut down when one lifts off the throttle was due to the fact it's about as aerodynamic as a loaf of bread? ;)

But at least i know what it is then.

Cheers!

I did somewhere, I'll have a look, what you have there is the remote part, the rest should be mounted to the carb and connected by hose.....

I think its in the Bently manual....

As said before, its part of the emissions control system used on early vans it stop the throttle snapping shut on over run.

On the LH image on the link, it attaches via a hose to the round thing in front of the carb (thing being the technical term the thing with two hose coming out of it), the other hose attaches to a vac port on the carb. Inside the thing is a diaphragm that has a lincage that attaches to the throttle arm on the carb.

Well I'll be dipped in dogshit! I was lead to believe it was a pump for the heater.

Mine was fitted on the side tray and nowhere near the carb...

nice work i thought is was a breather / vacumm but didnt say as didnt want to look a muppet lol thanks for al your replys

ps anyone wanna buy it ? LOL
