I'd recommend not buying a 1776 from an 'engine builder' located in Barnsley that advertises on ebay, I know of 3 that have been ripped off by him so stay well clear

Thanks for the tip-off. I'm going to do my own and get the best quality parts I can (afford :msn4: ).

I'd agree with Ash. From first hand knowledge.

Happy to say more if you PM me.

I'd save and buy a VW Heritage one, Ive got one in my bus and about to buy one for a customers bus, as ozzie says if you want turnkey reliability then I dont think you can go wrong.

Plenty of threads on here about who NOT to buy engines from :msn4:

I'm going to stick with a 1584 but I'm going to buy all the kit to build form scratch from Alex at Heritage.
I was going to get a long block from them but have decided I want to balance the bottom end, full flow it for an external filter and install an Engle 100 cam.
Nice little 'tweaked' stocker that should be nice and smooth.....

Something I plan on soonish!

I will get the block (1776) off Alex (VW Heritage) and add bits as i go along.... I want good fuel eco so looking single carb like what Faux had!? (What size?)

80-100bhp at flywheel would be nice.... then brakes.....

........Why didn't I just keep my Golfmk2 gti!?
