Having waited over a month to get my hand on a set of adjusters (first to suppliers not comming through) I finaly got my hands on a set, but i have my reservations, i was expecting them to be machined not cast, as i was told that cast could be hard to weld. also the fit isnt thats good.

this one is good

But the fit on this one is no where near as good.

Whoaa....

on such a vital piece of equipment, i would be wanting a perfectly machined fit....need we bring up Grazy's unfortunate mishap....

They are looking rough, your "good one" aint too clever....

who from and how much....

How are you going to weld them in, surely cast will need TIG welding
Surely these should be machined and the fit should be alot better than what your good one is.
Personally looking at those i would demand a refund

hrrm, I never thought getting a decent set of adjusters would be so hard!

I'll get in touch with the company and see what they say!

With something as potentially dangerous as this, there (in my opinion) can be no need for being shy as to naming the supplier of what look to be less than top quality parts. The 'Grazygate' incident has been mentioned and needs to be taken as a datum for what is NOT accepted.
I can only comment on my own experience, so here goes. Got my adjusters from Creative Engineering, near as damn it same price as elsewhere. They are 'cast', called Dave to enquire about welding, cast to mild steel etc. Advised that*high carbon content (I think)* so fine to weld with normal mild steel wire on a mig set, welding looks spot on, no doubts about it.
Have to say, the mesh between the two parts is not quite what I expected but for cast parts I suppose is as good as can be hoped for. Machined stuff would be soooooo expensive!
I have no worries about the fitted parts, but do always check the integrity as far as I can each and every time the front is raised on a jack.
*The exact technical term eludes me, but was /am confident that Dave had done the research*

Was advised that the 'recipe' for the alloy used by Creative was specifically engineered to enable it to be treated as mild steel for this purpose.
I am not a welder, but my next door neighbour who installed my adjusters is, and has been for more years than he would admit to! It was he who raised the question I asked Dave at Creative re cast/mild steel.
TIG is merely a method of welding, as is MIG, MMA (stick) or gas (oxy/accetaline). It is the type of filler wire/rod (and gas) that makes a difference regarding the materials to be 'joined'.
TIG by the way is a very 'calm' method of welding, the very little I have done has been rather theraputic!

We have really nice fitting machined adjusters in stock for both bay and split beams which are not cast and not sold as one size fits all.

Give me a buzz on 01638 743211

t2d

get the pics up fella so we can all see what adjusters should look like and be honest how do you rate these from the few pics you see....

Are the pictured ones creative?..... the ones fitted to my weedeater fitted even worse than that, also they were full of overspray from the powder coat. when cleaned out one of them was really really difficult to tighten up straight it was that far out. Shocking considering how much i paid for the beam. Never going back to adjusters after my frt end collasped(twice) :(

are they definatley cast?? they could be forged in which case you can mig weld them. if they are cast best method is stick but as always welding cast metals can take special skills and tools as it may crack if it expands/contracts to quickly. they do look rough as a badgers arse tho. i wouldnt fit them. im looking at getting adjusters. who did you buy them off??

Speak to who you bought them from, I wouldn't fit them that's for sure..

Our ones mesh really nicely, and both sections are curved so more teath come into contact.

I have posted a pick at http://www.t2d-blog.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They are 105 per pair but are WELL worth the extra few quid..

Regards Paul

Agreed, those T2D ones ^^ look nice 8)

I wouldn't be fitting those cast ones you've got Mark - send them back and tell the supplier you're not happy with the quality, can't skimp on safety :?
