I took the belly pans off my dormobile to have a good look small bit to do but should I replace them and is there a structural issue there thanks.Frankie

theres a recent thread on here about belly pans dude

i think the decision is have it how you want it - if its nice and tidy underneath i would seal it and put them back on , vw must of had a half decent reason for putting them on

its a job i have been putting off :lol:

Ive been thinking aout the same, mine does not have any belly pans fitted. By the next mot i need some outriggers done and the sills doing meaning the centre of the van will be finished.

Have been thinking about givin it a good waxoil under side then buying some new pans and converting them so that they bolt on. I can then remove one a year clean up and re waxoil.

Sounds a simple job to do in pratice. My mate does the theory and work bit he may try and change my mind.

I believe you can buy fibreglass ones as well, cant remember the name of the place but he only lives round the corner if you are interested.

Cheers Mr Loxy. I've got to get the sills done first, then i'll think about the pans :D

Guy round the corner doesnt do them (http://www.nomorerustybits.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

its this place that does them: http://www.riveria-roof-company.co.uk/bellypans.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

price seems reasonable, anyone out there tried them?

devon fitted them retrospectively due to structural issues. i think they were worried about chassis flex with that much metal out of the roof. It definitely wont do any harm to put them back.

the way the dormobile roof framework is fabricated it looks like they have conciderd the structural side, looks like its pretty strong.

sorry i only know about splitties, but vw fitted belly pans to give extra rigidity to doubledoors and sunroofs, they also supplied them to westfelia when they started poptops.

i guess they thought they were important...
