This has probably been raised before but I'm trying to understand the best looking / running size tyre for wide 5's on a lowered Bus - It won't be heavily slammed but more like the ride height to Veedunk's great looking bus.

Ideally a white band tyre as well...

Any help appreciated.

Sorry mate no answer to your question , but Veedunk`s ride is on the money IMO 8)

Will,

can't quite jog my mind enough to remember what size they where thinking 185/195 that i fitted to my '68 Devon i had a few years back but one thing you have to watch out for is you put Van tyres on instead of car tyres.

as the extra weight of the vehicle compaired to a car, a camper needs stronger tyres and van tyres are 5 ply if i remember right instead of 3 ply which cars are.

if i am wrong no doubt somebody will correct me here

You've opened a can of worms now

Tks Jon,

Maybe I'll be put a different one on each corner, then I'll have a 1 in 4 chance of getting it right...

Will.

Found this may help a few people,

an extract from etyres.......

What does PR mean?

6PR means 6 ply. These are tyres used on light commercial vehicles and are constructed using extra reinforcing called 'ply.' Most car tyres are 4ply construction.
What does 8PR mean?

8PR means 8 ply. These are tyres used on light commercial vehicles and are constructed using extra steel reinforcing called 'ply.' Most car tyres are 4ply construction.

i knew i was not going mad playing with my wire to much....lol

I fitted 195/65 on the rear and 185/65 on the front of my first bay and it was only a 4" drop.

On my bay I now have 185/65 on the rear and 175/55 on the front.

When I asked the garage about ratings I was just told that they were fine for the weight and speed of my vehicle.

Each tyre has a load limit stated on it. Just make sure that the total limit of the 2 tyres on the rear axle exceeds the maximum rear axle weight limit (this is stated on the VIN plate), and then the same for the front.

It's not rocket science, but people (especially on thesamba) get their knickers all in a twist about it

I've just got 185 R 14 Firestone commercial tyres. They're not the prettiest tyre but I got a good deal, £37 each brand new.I might put some white wall flaps on when I've done everything else to make it look better.
