After some advice - I haven't touched a BMX in 30 years plus, but my lad has decided he wants one for Christmas.

One he has chosen is a Bland Cell 2010.

Any good or anything better for similar bucks :?:

Thanks for looking

couldn't see one on the link mate .. just said product not found ..

Stick the name of it up ..

Hilly

Spec looks OK, I presume he rides a BMX at the moment as otherwise that chainring will be hard work to start with (low geared), 14mm rear axle is proper BMX just not sure why they haven't followed suit on the front, Tektro brakes are standard not brilliant but it does have a 3 piece crank which on its own is worth £90 - £100.

Have you tried Alans BMX for a comparison http://www.alansbmx.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or chainreactioncycles, not always great for BMX but OK and it looks like they have the same bike for the same price http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Categories.aspx?CategoryID=162" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Personally I'd try and find one that he can try as BMX frames vary drastically in size usually the length of the top tube and depending how tall he is a short frame is a bit of a no no.

Hope that helps, there are plenty of BMX retailers out there and lots of good bikes

Take your point about the front - ratio will be tricky!
He is around 5ft 8in (just 13. ) and the good thing about Evans is there is one just down the road at the local Xscape at Castleford so he can check it out.

Thanks for the feedback and will check the other sites :D

it looks like a good set up dude.i ride bikes and used to ride bmx these frames are a good base to build on if he does get into bmx tho.3 piece cranks as said are a definate yes.check out a few others first and see how he is positioned on it.personally i think 24" wheels or 26" are the way forward 8)
