It's a Kampa midi travel air-beam, decent size, quality and easy to put up, very happy with it.

This weekend was Quex Park VW show, just over half an hour away from home and in its 3rd or 4th year, so keen to support it.
Friday early evening we arrived and were told we could camp in regular, family or quiet camping, headed off the quiet and it really was almost dead, great big field with only around 15 camps in. Set up with my mate next to us in his T5...

Pretty cold wind Friday evening so a fire and some rum to keep warm. Saturday morning was scorching hot, 34 degrees according to the forecast, and certainly felt like it! Some decent motors on display, good choice of food and drink and a few traders...

This guy was pretty eccentric...

Seen this a few times now, love the windows, something really different...

Cracking weekend, good crowd and some nice cars, food and drink priced well and a nice location with plenty of space, will definitely be back next year.

Volksweald show at the weekend, been going for 3 years and has really grown, lots of cars, good DJ on the Friday night and live bands on the Saturday. Weather was good and it was a decent vibe, nice and chilled.

This Speedster was lovely, looking in the engine bay I could smell petrol, for some reason the in-line fuel filter was plumbed in right above the distributor and was leaking, went to get a pen and some paper to leave the guy and note and came back to find 2 guys taking it out, apparently it had split having only been fitted the day before. Lucky escape.

Well the fine weather is starting to turn and the camping season is coming to a close again. It’s been a great summer though, another road trip around Belgium and Holland, same ultimate destination but a different route taking in some different places. Started off in Middelkerke and Nieuwpoort for 4 nights, stunning sand beach is a 10 minute bike ride away from the campsite...

Lots of bars all along the beach, great to stop for a beer and some frites while the kids play in some inflatable or other...

We normally live off the bbq, but I took the new Cobb this time as it serves as a bbq, oven, casserole, etc. It was pretty cool to fry some chicken on the top with some spice rub, and then be roasting some potatoes, mushrooms and tomatoes at the same time, then toast flat breads to have with it, all at the same time...

Even a byriyani type affair...

And of course sausages...

Rented a house in Gent for the night...

And spent a couple of days checking out the sights, lovely place, plenty of places to eat and drink too...

Then on to Efteling theme park for 4 days, the kids favourite place...

Next time you're in Gent try the Wasbar for breakfast.

Very happy with the Cobb, really can cook anything. I’ve just got the pizza stone so will give that a whirl, I’ve got a UUni portable wood fired pizza oven and it’s great, but it’s a one-trick pony, so taking the Cobb and doing bbq, pizza, roasting really is cool.
Googled Wasbar, looks great, we’re going back so thanks for the tip.

Got the Cobb from Lakeland, £120 with a bag to carry it in, and then you can buy different things to allow you cook different ways if that’s what you fancy. I just used standard briquettes but now have a pack of the proper Cobb ones which are more expensive, so will see how they go.
Efteling is great, the kids would happily live there!

There was some awesome sand sculptures on the beach in Middlekerke in the last few days of our trip, but we didn’t bother going in for €40 a family. Saw this split though...

The weather was great for the whole trip apart from one morning with showers, so we found a bowling alley, on the last bowl my nipper got a spare, very happy boy...

There was a pro photographer on the campsite taking photos for the website, he agreed to send me the couple of pics he took of us as they were proper hi-res ones...

And then trouble: a rear wheel bearing started to rumble very loudly very quickly. Bus was driveable but I didn’t want to risk it breaking down on the 50 mile trip to Calais. I’ve got European cover with my insurance and gave them a call. They wanted to send someone out to confirm but i pushed for a straight recovery and got it. They were great, couldn’t fault the service. We drove on to the truck, got a lift to Calais and then drove off there onto the train, then off and back home. It got a little louder but managed to hold up...

So all went well, a very chilled time, perfect to round off the summer...

Just fabulous. It's posts like these that make me want to draw every penny I have out of the bank, commit and buy an EB for the family. Sure the bearing/breakdown is an inconvenience, probably frustrating, but so long as you can count it as part of the experience - it is just that, a great family experience. Certainly a lesson that Euro breakdown cover is an absolute must!

Yes, I’ve been lucky in that I’ve never been left at the side of the road with my bus, that said I tend to make sure the important stuff is replaced before it needs to be, so that helps. EU cover is definitely worthwhile, we take the bus abroad a few times a year so it’s peace of mind.

Grill and Chill at the Hop Farm in Kent a few weeks ago, really good show with a decent variety of motors. We only went for one night this time as had other stuff on, will be back for 2 nights again next year hopefully.
