Are you putting it back to stock? Take a shock off, extend it and measure it (I'll check stock size tomorrow) -
then test it, there should be a good bit of resistance in both directions. If it's like a bicycle pump bin it.

EDIT: How much do you want to raise it by?
about 3" give or take, just enougth to get the wheels off and reverse up to kerbs!

CP, the balljoint weedeater beam has an extra set of mountaing holes and will fit any bus from 54 right up to 80,

up to 71 had an overall narrower shock tower and closer bolts this was the wide five wheel config like yours,

As mentioned easy and myself have both got/ had weedeater beams, i had a loads of probs with mine, rubbish powdercoat, dubious poly bushes, overspray on the adjusters, dodgy inner bosses... since been told i'm not alone in this too :(its been taken off my 68 and i'm just about to fit another a new beam. Don't get me wrong some people seem very happy with theres but mine road like crap even with dropped spindles. I don't want to confuse you anymore but i'd read my thread before ordering.

Hi thread followers.:)

I had a look at this beam this afternoon while looking at some other bits and pieces for CP. Then I came home and have just read this thread.

A photo is worth a thousand words, but a proper look is better... I guess some of the more extreme advice given above was in "better safe than sorry" mode...

Beam is is tip-top condition, never repaired, and has adjusters neatly fitted top and bottom. There is plenty of adustment to go up or down from where it sits, though I doubt it would go right back up to stock. The shocks are leaking and too short as some of you spotted. If I had to be really picky, I'd say the adjuster welding could have been a bit hotter and a dab of paint after wouldn't have hurt. That's it folks.:)

 Well that is a happy and some what cheaper ending. And goes to show that forums are extremely helpful but can't beat a real examination by someone who knows what they are looking for. Glad to hear it is ok and an easy fix.

I bet you feel a bit better about things now CP 8)

Don't be afraid to keep asking on here, there is loads of good advice for the Earlybay fan.

Yes bud, was very useful having a bus expert look around my bus! :D

We got home from Tesco's at 11:30pm but I think I got away with it!

The makings of a nice bus BTW :)

It also occurred to me that it was probably your good self that bent the rear arches getting the wheels off?

To avoid this you need to pry them down with a crowbar.

Arr well as long as I didnt get you in trouble :p

Taking the rear wheels off didnt help but as you can tell from the state of the rest of the pannels they have always been a funny shape

I flat grinded the rest of the tank shelf, you were right, on the nearside there was also another hole  :?

Happy fun holidays!
