Hi all.

My insurance is up for renewal next month. For a 41yr old full no claims I'm getting a quote of £485!! with Just Kampers.

Seen on these forums how cheap Cherished is. Gave them a call and they won't insure as the bus isn't garaged!

I live in a flat with secure off road parking. Then at work it's in a Police compound. Still not good enough!!

Any other cheap companies please?

Mines insured through Chaucer with a company called Heritage in Birmingham. I'm 42 with a claim (theft of vehicle in 2009, plus outstanding claim on my old bus till it gets sorted) , me and the misses fully comp, vehicle not garaged all the time - £124

Just tried Heritage. 2 quotes. First over £600 and next £30 cheaper than one in place.

Pisses me off. I'm in Wigan council but have Manchester post code so bumps up premium. The bloody bus does 60mph, only vehicle, careful experienced driver but still gets stung way over odds.

Rant over!!

Gee, Sureterm won't touch me cos it's my only vehicle!!

I'm going to see my arse in a bit!

Performance direct £450 but with 5k milage.

Peter Best wasn't and cos it's only vehicle and not garage won't.

It's only a blooming van! As if we don't spend enough money on them already. I'm loosing the will to live.

Just been informed by JustKampers who's my current insurer, insurance has gone up 40%! how can that be with less uninsured drivers due to Police powers and technology.

They gave a renewal of £485. Just called them and that's if I pay in one lump. If not it's over £500 cos of interest.

All I can say is, he must have been wearing a mask on the other end of the phone, the robbing bar steward! How can insurance companies get away with it!!

Rant number two over.

Really feel for you Bud :( lets hope someone can come up trumps for you. What sort of mileage are you after, what sort of valuation do you need. I was with Sureterm last year they were murder God knows what they are like with a claim not good judging by reports on the web.
Now with Cherished & seem OK, my vans not garaged as it's too long but its kept behind locked gates,& well covered with 3k mileage 15.5k value I pay £136 :D not trying to depress you but its not a every day ride.
Your situation is completely different to alot of us on here & I respect you for it. ;) Good luck.

You should try being under 25, you can't even get quotes

Try Volksworld Insurance (I think they are HIC). They're the ones who were able to help me out

My father recommends Footman James as his classic motor is with them for peanuts

Post code will hit you hard I'm sure, and full no claims doesn't make a difference on a classic policy.

Have you tried Adrian Flux? not everyones favourite for sure, but when I had the split as my only vehicle, unlimited milage, on the driveway, with commuting was less than £200...had a similair quote for the crewcab recently too.

:)

Thanks all for your replies and gvee for making me sound old 

I'm going to chill now until Monday morning and try ones recommended. I'll keep you posted.

Best I found was Footman James. Bus isnt garaged and is kept at my parents address rather than mine. Found them really helpful and very reasonably priced as well

Postcode is everything sadly, im 34 and bus is parked up the street from my house fully comp with breakdown, £120!
Yet my crappy mondeo is £235
Im in durham but id i was 2kms away at my mates house i'd be looking at £475 for bus

That sucks dude. I'm with RH Specialist as are some others on here. My van lives in either the street or an off road car park and about £120 a year fully comp.

I'm with HIC, im 39 and had a claim 3 years ago which was my fault :-(, not garaged with 3000 miles a year and agreed value @ £12000, renewal through today £280... Might be worth a try dude!!!

same, parked on my drive over night I'm 31 with no ncd, me and my mrs with breakdown its £109

as above, im 25 and got a quote from cherished yesterday for just shy of 200 quid on the drive agreed value.

but i did say i would have my tracker wired up by the time it reaches my drive.

Cherished wont insure you if it is your only car/van even if you dont use it to commute etc.
Im named driver on my wifes insurance and ive got motorcycle insurance but they wont insure me. Its in a secure lock up and because i work at Sea i dont need it for work so as a daily and parked on the drive would be a big ask with Cherished.
Id like to give my business to Cherished but they wont have me.
Good luck...........i was with Footman, but am now with Lancaster.
