So I now have the necessaries to order a new cam and after much deliberation I am still stuck on which one to order for my 1641 (twinport, single carb)...

Engle 100 or 110 or other?

Was leaning towards the 110 but am worried that might over cam it. Don't want zero power when setting off! Am I being over cautious and daft?

The reason for the cam upgrade from stock is that eventually (read: when I hit 25) I will slap twin carbs on it and because I needs to replace my busted one on it now, it seems like a good enough time to put a complimentary cam in there.

Any thoughts?

Hard one to answer since it depends on your driving style, type of usage of the bus and weight.
Only you can judge.

Broadly speaking the 100 will suite if you have a full conversion, use it for camping trips, drive reasonably gently and like some low down torque. Its pretty close to stock.

The 110 will give more power but at higher rpm and will suite a lighter van with a more enthusiastic driving style. Though in fairness the difference is not enormous IMO. Its when you start getting up to 120's that things start getting silly.

Hi, i have a 1641 with a progressive carb and 110 engle cam and its fine, i havent got a heavy right foot, and its got loads of oomph, well much more than it had before i had it rebuilt   and it uses less fuel too :D

Scat C25 is somewhere between a w100 and w110 or so I believe. 'tis what I have..

Whatever you choose however note it will have to be broken in.. 15 heartbreaking mins with the
engine running at half chat with no load..

I am about to build an engine and I've gone for a Scat C25.
As has been said, it's a compromise between an Engle 100 & a 110.
