Hi
I need to either replace or have my carburettor refurb found a company called riverhaus .co.uk which will refurb the carb what do most people do .thanks

What's wrong with it? If its just renewing seals You can refurb yourself with carb cleaner and a gasket kit, not a difficult job.

Its started leaking from the spindle on the side ive taken it off before cleaned it out new parts etc .

You can get new spindle bushes from ebay, pull the old plastic ones out and push the new ones on. Nice and simple :) will see if I can find them.....

These are the ones I used: http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/370597327209?nav=SEARCH" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That is not a proper fix, Those are a plastic bush spindle that someone has made to bodge the job. Originally they didnt have a plastic bush in there!

Personally I would send my carb to someone who will reem and re-bush the spindle properly (in metal).

I have used Pete @ Cogbox to do it in the past.

There is a guy who trades as Rage from Europe that does these, hes at the Volksworld show. Looked good

Machine 7 do a recon original Solex too. I fitted one to a van recently. Nice bit of kit.

Thanks for all the replies has anybody used the company in my first post .

Hello, I purchased a rebuilt Solex 34 PICT 3 carb from Riverhaus in 2013, plus some other parts. The chap who worked there was called Kevin Leaworthy and he was really helpful.

The carb arrived well packaged (vac-packed) and was exactly what I expected based on the information on their website. Since fitting it and setting it up, I have completed approx. 9,000 miles on it, without issue.

I am no expert on the various suppliers out there, but based on my personal experience I would definitely use him/Riverhaus again. Hope that helps - good luck with it.

I've had a couple apart with plastic bushes, I believe that is what was originally fitted. They wear and the spindle then leaks. The link I posted was to a brass bush to replace the plastic. Works a treat and I've had no issues at all with them.
