Just came back from a week in and around Bude in Cornwall, the wife booked it and insisted we go in the bay. I wasn't very confident and insisted she kept her recovery card handy and I even prepped our daily for when we got towed back.

Well we got there down steep hills and back up again, over rough ground, muddy fields, heavy wind and rain, sweltering traffic, she cruised happily at 70 for hours and never let us down, we had a great time and by the time we pulled into the drive she had clocked up 853 miles in one week :D

I'de like to think its because the type 4 engines are so robust or my tentative driving had something to do with it but I can only put it down to one thing.

Its an air cooled bay and there's nothing like it 8)

Today I feel alot more respect for the old girl and any thoughts of getting rid of it have gone now, instead she s going to get a much deserved revamp and will be out a whole lot more next year.

There is nothing like that sense of achievement when you get back home after a trouble free adventure. Northern France last year, been to Devon already this year and off to Norfolk in a couple of week. Not as long as your trip but I'll be as happy as you if Sydney's type 4 engine remains as reliable as yours!

well done :D , it is a great feeling conquering like that.

we did the same thing only travelling from norfolk (Diss) went to bornemouth torquay, truro, st austell, newquay, st ives, padstow then back down to exeter clocked up 1139 miles in a week.

the hills were very traumatic tho, going up them anyway!!, 1641 with stock carb and dizzy = 20mph up a lot of them!!

Well, I have to be honest, there was one hairy moment whilst traveling down a very dark country lane you know the type, high trees over head, pitch black, 2 in the morning when I hit a bump and my lights went out

Totally soiled myself  couldnt see a thing just as I was about to panic I hit another bump and they came back on.

Drove the rest of the way very sheepishly with the wife hanging out the window with a torch just in case.

Well done dude,we`r doing the same thing setting off this saturday, going down to St Ives for the first week then up to Bude for the second week.Gotta be honest bit nervous but hey it`ll be an adventure, just gonna take it easy. :D
