Hi

I wonder if anyone has any advice on the best aftermarket crankcases to use (UK Based). VW Heritage has an offer on Autolinia https://www.vwheritage.com/043101025al-crankcase-1300cc-1600cc-aluminium-vw-spare

Anyone used these for stock use?

Regards

Stu

I’d stick with a vw as41 mag case. An Autolinea case is a lot heavier and would be over kill tbh.

Auto Linea's case is non heat treated aluminium, and a boat anchor to boot. Zero benefits over mag. Add in Auto Linea's poor reputation for machining cases - usually 30% of the cases have bad cam & crank tunnel alignment (1 in 3 of their boring machines is BAD!). That said, Rima in Brazil let out a run of AS41 mag cases that were truly horrible - fairly easy to spot if you know what you are looking for.
