As you can see there's a quality motor running this Tach and the individual components have all been developed using expensive tooling methods. I could have just slapped a printed piece of paper on an existing tach and screwed it into the dash for half the price but that's not what I wanted to achieve.

I would like to make it clear that I will be selling these to EB members at an overall loss. You may question this and say then why the hell am I making them at all? Well, I have already invested a considerable amount of money on tooling and research which I will struggle to make back in the first few batches. So I have decided to produce them at the cost of the parts plus a very small margin to cover my time and effort in putting them together.

I will be finalising costs this week and can say they will be around £140. This is a little more than the prices quoted by the competition, but worth the extra investment for the quality. I realise this may be a stretch for most people but I really can't see them being produced for any less. Like I said earlier, I will probably need to sell close to 70 units before I break even.

I will be wiring it up and testing tomorrow so will report back with the findings. Thanks for all the support.

Chris

I've followed this thread for a while and think this is a sterling effort, so well done, hope testing goes well and please PM when ready as I look forward to fitting one!

Kinda feel sorry for that other dude now.

Who'd have thought there would be two EB tacho offerings on the table this time last year.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Put me down for one too please - I can be the first to disprove the 'easy to fit' claim :msn4:

Tacho was officially fitted and tested today with no glitches. Once you have run the wire from the coil along the wiring loom and up inside the cab the rest is easy. They will be supplied with full fitting instructions to make it all idiot proof.

Tach worked well. I will have to calibrate it with a hand held unit to ensure it is spot on.

Watch this space. Video uploading. :D

Very nice work mate, how long before these are produced??

Could I get one with the 6 the other way up??

I see what you mean about the 6. I did put a lot of thought into it. If you compare it to the clock pick VDO inverted the numbers at that stage of the dial so I decided to do the same. Notice all the numerals are exact replicas.

This is an original clock below NOT one of my own.

To me, the 6 needs inverting again, looks like a 9. If you look at the original clock, the numbers are not flipped until the 4 o'clock position, whilst the 6 is more like the 3 o'clock position. Just my opinion.

That pic is a tad deceiving Jon. The 6 is actually below 3 o cliock on the dial. Anyway you're vever going to rev that high so don't stress.

Hi Chris , I haven't looked at this thread for a while , it looks really impressive. the price isn't too bad either.

It is also good to gauge the numbers of people that would potentially purchase a rev counter has been shown with the other thread that's currently running .

How long before your finnished with the testing cycle and ready to produce the finninshed article?

Cheers Pete

PS sorry we didn't bump in to each other in Ninove , even though you were parked next to me at the brewery :D
