hope this helps

Thanks for the replys all :D
Johnny, that is very helpful indeed. It would seem I have a different type of bunk to what I thought or they have been modified at some point.

the hook is on the end and why I was confused as to how it fitted.

Your pics also confirm I was right in a discussion as to where the clips go to hold the cap down

Mine looks exactlty the same as the photos posted by Johnny, with the exception that I am missing the off side bunk completely as some numpty replaced it with some crap shelf. If anyone has a spare I would be most interested in buying it.

I don't think that bunk could be a modified early devon as it looks like it is made with 2 round poles. The ones in Johnny's and in mine are 1 round pole that comes out and runns down the middle of the van and a flat strip that is popriveted to the side.

would you mind laying it out flat and open so we can have a look? if its devon, the bars to latch the bunks to the centre have definitely been replaced, OGs are a 'Y' end with a bar as the latch. It sould have only one round bar per bunk and the other side pop-riveted to the roof as Sparky says, but a open flat view would tell us more.

sorry it's been a while. That's first time I've opened them out. HOW narrow are they!? I think they'll be too slim for my kids even.

sorry off topic, Johnny whats the round thing attached to the roof?... is it just a light fitting?
Also i don't remember ever seeing a resto thread for your bus johnny is there one?

Isn't that the extractor fan often seen on devons. There's not one on mine so I've often wondered if it is a genuine devon?
Anyone else know if these were an option?

Sparky

its genuine and i had supposed it was on all poptop devon conversions?, its a Tannoy branded (i thought they only made speaker and PA systems?) and works as a three speed extractor out, and 3 speed ventilator in. Handy to get rid of the curry and lager smells after a heavy night on the beers ;) .

Ant, im taking pics for a blog but ill not be posting anything until the vans is finished as work on her is sporadic at the moment (house move and new baby). I've almost got my garage extended and heightened so it'll lbe full steam ahead in amonth or two once i have the bus moved from my lockup (50 miles away after the house move) :D

@the rot box, the Earlybay devon bunk had one pole with the other side a thin flat bar riveted to the roof for strength. the bunks are both tapered so narrow at the front of the bus to widen out at the back, basically to allow anyone sleeping below more movement and easier access to hop up onto the top bunks.

i dont know much about dormobiles but didnt they have similar bunks? your bunks might be slightly modified or perhaps they are dormy bunks?

Thanks all. As they are so narrow I won't be using them now. I'll be selling them for what I paid :)
