Doh, beetle just peed all its oil over the road. :(

Can my luck get any better? :?

Went for a drive today as my flatmates have been looking for a house to live in next year.

This morning, I spent ages setting up my carbs making it run sweet as a nut.

Managed to get about 2 miles, and my beetle dumped most of its oil over the main road.

Part of the full flow oil pipework had caught on the exhaust and melted. Hence a lot of oil leaving the car rather quickly.

The back end of the bug is covered in oil, I'm covered in oil (including my new - just got for christmas- hoodie). At least I did fix it and get it home with the tools and spare parts I carry everywhere!. I knew that 5 litre bottle of oil and that spare oil hose would come in handy!

Seems I will have a nice fun job to sort it all out this week

Oh, and the general consensus is that I need heat wrap to stop the exhaust and pipework touching and burning. Don't think I have done any damage to the engine, but I'll see.

bad news dude. Glad you got it fixed and i hope you didnt drive too far without oil in the motor.
I got half a litre of Gunk you can borrow :lol:

Cheers dude. I think I was lucky in that I reached my destination when I noticed the oil was leaking. I don't think I drove far at all with it leaking. It certainly dumped a lot after I had stopped though! It still read some oil on the dipstick (just below the min level when I first stopped)

I think the 2 girls I was with were not impressed though.

Should have heard the cries of "If I get oil on these trousers then you're paying for them" :shock: :lol:

Unlucky Tofufi!

My W8 Passat (4.0L) needs a coil pack on No. 4 cylinder sp we think, so you not the only one m8. Its a dont drive condition according to the book
