Hi all and seasons greetings.

Just been done over for the second time on my bus. Not happy.

To cut a long story short, I live near Wigan and need the front end of my bus respraying, cab door and sliding door seals replacing. I have the seals.

Anyone know of a reputable garage, that's trust worthy and not going to rip me off. My bus is my daily runner so need it done quite urgently.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Doris I'll give them a try.

Betsy thanks but I'll pass on that one if you get my hint.

All I'll say is that people shouldn't be in this game if they complain about the amount of work and effort they have to do to our loved and cherished vehicles. Especially after when they've been doing it for so long and know nothing goes right with them.

If I had the time and space to do the work I would, but instead we intrust our cherished possessions into so called experts hands, only to be later disappointed and ripped off.

What ever happened to giving the customer what he needs, reputation and good old job satisfaction and pride in your work.

To add further, in this economic crisis and small businesses crumbling, it seems to me with our buses being of a specialist nature, some garages have us over a barrel knowing no matter what standard of work is produced, they know we have to bow down and give in.

He's a mate of mine, he owns a bodyshop this is his website: http://www.streetstylebodyshop.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think "done resto work on a couple of barn doors" sells him a bit short, he's actually won Europe's Most Beautiful VW with his old Wizard as well as multiple awards and magazine features with his old bright orange Oval Beetle, you might have seen it on the cover of Volksworld.

I feel your pain dude. The same thing has happened to me this year with the guy who was painting my bus. Not only was it 'finished' (I use that term VERY loosely) almost 4 months late, but they also 'lost' several parts (some NOS), and are now claiming they never even had these parts. To top it all off, the paint on the roof has started to pimple/blister. All I know is that next time (although I say every time there wont be a 'next time' lol) I will only use very well respected/trusted people/companies.

It's been an interesting read.

I've had my bus 3 years now and everyone to date that has had dealings with it has screwed me over one way or another.

1. Bloke I bought it from on fleabay ripped me off. Through my honest nature and naivety I still bought it.

2. First paint shop did a rubbish job and damaged trim. Currently going through small claims court.

3. Trimmers drove around in my bus while they had it. Colleague from work said she saw it even though they are adamant it didn't leave their workshop.

4. Recent garage completed 80% of the agreed work for a fixed price. Told me to take it back to my electricians to get dash completed before it's MOT and he'll finish off afterwards.

He then wanted all the money even though he hadn't finished job!?

Following an argument, he took what money I offered and told me to take bus as is! He now calls me for remainder of money?!

Am I in the wrong here? Who pays fully upfront for work that isn't completed on their bus?

looks like youve had a bad time with it, it can be hard trying to find good people who arnt going to rip you off, and as soon as you mention volkswagen , they move the decimal point to the left ..mention air cooled and they move the f%$&*r again the only two i trust in this area are westhoughton vw they are based in bolton but ive only used them twice and theyve been excallent and steve as previously listed and he,s top class any upholstery work is done by a chap called phil in leigh ex rollsroyce upholsterer but very buissy qiute a few people reccomend a company near the city im not naming names and some people swear by them but lets just say ive not dealt with them i have,nt been impressed by the small fortune a close friend spent with them and ive got a few friends who wont go near them....and a few who think they are the dogs gonads...go figure ..i know these are old vehicles and we all spend a lot of hard earned cash looking after them and its took me a long time to get the van i want but like your good self i dont want to walk into somewhere and see smiling grease monkeys looking at me and going ...who,s little bottom is this so keep ya chin up pal and give ya mates the heads up on the good, the bad and the ugly....and i agree i dont mind paying good money for a good job but if its a sh%$£ job then the payment should also be .....yep,,,s%&&te...
